Avital 5308L 2-Way Remote Start Security System

The Avital 5308L is a vehicle remote start and security system designed to add everyday convenience while helping monitor key vehicle entry points. It combines remote engine starting, keyless-entry control, alarm functions, and command confirmation in one professionally installed system. It is intended for fuel-injected vehicles and is designed for installation by an authorized dealer.

A 2-way LCD remote provides visual status feedback when supported commands are received by the vehicle, helping the user confirm actions such as locking, arming, or remote starting. A separate 1-way four-button remote is also included for straightforward system control. The 2-way remote can provide audible or vibration notifications for system pages and alarm events.

The security side of the 5308L includes an impact sensor, starter interrupt, six-tone siren, flashing parking-light output, and panic/car-locator function. Light impacts can trigger a Warn Away response, while heavier impacts can trigger a full alarm response. Connected door, trunk, hood, ignition, and optional sensor inputs can be monitored through the system configuration.

Remote start is designed to let the vehicle run for a programmed period before driving, which can be useful when climate settings have been preset. Available run-time settings are 12, 24, or 60 minutes, and the system includes automatic shutdown monitoring for conditions such as brake application, an open hood, or an expired run time. Timer Mode and a temperature-based timer option provide additional cold-weather operating flexibility when configured by the installer.

The 5308L fits an upgrade path for drivers who want conventional RF remote operation with the option to add compatible Directed by VOXX SmartStart Pro functionality. Three auxiliary outputs allow a dealer to configure supported convenience or expansion functions, such as an optional trunk-release application. Vehicle-specific wiring, interface requirements, and supported functions should be confirmed by the installer before purchase.

Design & Installation

The system uses a compact control-module-based design with a windshield-mounted Control Center that integrates the in-vehicle antenna, status LED, and valet/control button. The included 2-way remote uses an LCD status display, internal antenna, programming button, command buttons, and USB charging port. The 1-way remote uses an internal antenna, transmit LED, and command buttons for core system operation.

Professional installation is required because connection methods, security monitoring, remote-start operation, door-lock integration, and any vehicle data or immobilizer interface needs vary by vehicle. The installer should verify fuel-injection compatibility, configure safety shutdown inputs, and confirm which auxiliary, lock-control, timer, and SmartStart Pro functions can be supported. Remote start should never be used in an enclosed or partially enclosed area, and Garage Mode should be enabled when the vehicle is being serviced or stored in a garage.
