Each microphone uses a hand-crafted true condenser capsule and selectable pickup patterns to adapt to a broad range of sources. The pair is intended for recording engineers, musicians, project studios, and live-production users who need two closely matched microphones for consistent stereo capture.

Its smooth, natural character is suited to lead vocals, acoustic instruments, piano, brass, electric guitar cabinets, drum overheads, orchestral sources, and room capture. Four selectable polar patterns let the microphones move from focused source isolation to wider ambient or stereo recording techniques. This makes the pair practical for sessions where the microphone position and pattern need to change with the source.

Each sE4400 uses a hand-crafted 1-inch, gold-sputtered true condenser capsule with dual diaphragms. The microphones are tested, tuned, and sonically matched in-house for closely aligned frequency response between the two channels. That matching helps support balanced stereo imaging when the microphones are used on a stereo bar or as a spaced pair.

Switchable low-cut filters at 40 Hz and 80 Hz help reduce low-frequency rumble, footfall noise, and excess proximity effect. Selectable -10 dB and -20 dB attenuation pads allow the microphones to accommodate louder sources such as drums, brass, and guitar cabinets. With up to 157 dB SPL handling when the -20 dB pad is engaged, the sE4400 can cover both detailed and high-level recording work.

The matched-pair package provides the core hardware needed to begin stereo microphone placement, including two custom shockmounts, thread adapters, a stereo mounting bar, and a metal case. It connects through standard 3-pin XLR and requires 48V phantom power from a compatible audio interface, microphone preamp, mixer, or recorder. It is a useful upgrade for studios adding a versatile multi-pattern pair for overheads, instruments, ambience, and stereo recording setups.

Design & Installation

The sE4400 uses a die-cast all-metal housing, all-metal switches, and a rugged spring-steel wire-mesh grille. Its flat, round-edged chassis is designed to work with the included custom suspension shockmount. The matched-pair set stores and transports in its included metal case.

Connect each microphone to a balanced XLR microphone input and enable 48V phantom power only on compatible equipment. Use the included stereo mounting bar for coincident or near-coincident stereo techniques, or place the microphones separately for spaced-pair recording. Select the polar pattern, low-cut filter, and pad for the source, level, room sound, and desired rejection of surrounding sound.
