RØDE PROCASTER Dynamic Broadcast Microphone

The RØDE PROCASTER is an end-address dynamic broadcast microphone made for clear, close-miked speech recording. It is designed for podcasting, streaming, voice-over work, radio production, and other voice-focused applications. Its XLR output lets it integrate with compatible mixers, audio interfaces, and broadcast consoles.

This microphone is suited to creators and presenters who want focused vocal capture in rooms where ambient sound can be a concern. Its cardioid pickup pattern concentrates on sound arriving at the front of the microphone while helping reduce pickup from surrounding areas. The built-in pop filter is intended to reduce plosive sounds from close speech.

The PROCASTER has a voice-tailored 75Hz to 18kHz frequency range and a dynamic capsule with a stated sensitivity of -56dB re 1V/Pa. Its sound character is designed for speech applications, with a rich and natural vocal presentation. The 320-ohm balanced output is provided through an XLR connection.

Internal capsule shock mounting helps reduce handling noise transmitted through the microphone body. The all-metal construction is built for regular studio, desktop, and broadcast use. RØDE also includes an RM2 stand mount and ZP1 padded zip pouch with the microphone.

For a complete recording system, pair the PROCASTER with a compatible XLR microphone input, quality balanced XLR cable, and a stable microphone stand or boom arm. It can be used with the included RM2 mount or supported by optional RØDE accessories such as the PSM1 shock mount and PSA1-series studio arms. Its end-address design is intended for speaking directly into the front of the microphone.

Design & Installation

The PROCASTER uses a robust all-metal body with an end-address layout, measuring 214mm long and 53mm wide. Its internal pop filter and integrated capsule shock mounting are contained within the microphone assembly. The microphone weighs 745g according to the current RØDE datasheet.

Connect the microphone to a compatible XLR microphone input using a balanced three-pin XLR cable. The included RM2 stand mount includes an adaptor for 3/8-inch and 5/8-inch stand threads, allowing use with many microphone stands and boom arms. For optimal results, RØDE advises addressing the microphone from no more than 5cm (2 inches) away.
