The Rockford Fosgate R2-750X5 is a five-channel car audio amplifier designed to power front and rear speakers plus a subwoofer from one chassis. It provides separate full-range and subwoofer amplification for a more complete system upgrade than a single mono or four-channel amplifier. Its compact 1.9-inch-tall design helps it fit in many vehicle installations where space is limited.
This amplifier is suited to drivers building or updating a system with four cabin speakers and one passive subwoofer. The four full-range channels can run stereo speakers at 4 or 2 ohms, while the dedicated subwoofer channel supports a 4- or 2-ohm load. The front and rear channels can also be configured as two bridged pairs at 4 ohms when the system calls for more power to compatible speakers.
Rated output is 50 watts RMS per full-range channel plus 200 watts RMS for the subwoofer channel at 4 ohms. At 2 ohms, it delivers 100 watts RMS per full-range channel and 350 watts RMS to the subwoofer channel. Independent front, rear, and sub input-gain controls and adjustable crossover sections allow the amplifier to be matched to a wide variety of speaker and subwoofer combinations.
The R2-750X5 uses full-range Class-D circuitry to reduce electrical-system demand compared with less-efficient amplifier designs. Rockford Fosgate C.L.E.A.N. setup circuitry uses clip indicators to assist with gain adjustment, while the P.O.W.E.R. supply is designed to increase dynamic output as vehicle voltage rises. A variable Punch EQ on the subwoofer section and a variable infrasonic filter provide additional low-frequency tuning options.
For system integration, the amplifier accepts low-level RCA signals or high-level speaker signals through dedicated front, rear, and subwoofer inputs. Its 2/4/5-channel input selector supports source units with different numbers of audio outputs, including many factory-radio upgrade paths. An included RLC remote level control gives the installer a convenient way to adjust the subwoofer level from the cabin.
Key Features
- Five-Channel Layout: Powers four speakers and one subwoofer from a single amplifier.
- 750-Watt Rated Power: Supplies dedicated RMS power across full-range and subwoofer channels.
- Full-Range Class-D: Provides efficient amplification for speakers and bass systems.
- C.L.E.A.N. Setup: Clip indicators assist with setting amplifier gain appropriately.
- 2/4/5 Input Selector: Adapts to head units with different channel-output configurations.
- Included RLC Remote: Enables convenient adjustment of subwoofer output level.
Design & Installation
The R2-750X5 uses a cast-aluminum heatsink and convection cooling to manage operating heat. Its top-mounted control panel keeps gain, crossover, and tuning adjustments accessible after installation. Blue and red status indicators identify power, protection, input clipping, and output clipping conditions for the front, rear, and subwoofer sections.
Use 4 AWG power wiring and a properly installed 120 A fuse, which is recommended but not included. Match the full-range channels to 4- or 2-ohm stereo speaker loads, or use 4-ohm loads for bridged front or rear channel pairs; connect the dedicated subwoofer channel to a 4- or 2-ohm subwoofer load. Configure the input selector, gain controls, crossovers, and subwoofer filter during installation to suit the source unit and connected speakers.
