The Pioneer GM-DX975 is a five-channel Class-D car amplifier designed to power front speakers, rear speakers, and a subwoofer from one compact chassis. It is suited to drivers building a complete amplified audio system without adding separate full-range and mono amplifiers. Its five-channel layout provides dedicated amplification for a four-speaker system plus bass reinforcement.
At 4 ohms, the GM-DX975 delivers 75 watts RMS to each of four full-range channels and 350 watts RMS to its subwoofer channel. The subwoofer channel can provide up to 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms, while the full-range channels can be bridged for a three-channel configuration. This flexibility supports conventional front-and-rear speaker systems as well as systems focused on amplified front components and a subwoofer.
Class-D amplification helps deliver substantial output in a compact format suited to space-conscious vehicle installations. The full-range channels extend to 50 kHz and the amplifier is Hi-Res Audio Certified, making it appropriate for systems intended to preserve extended high-frequency playback. Gold-plated RCA terminals and high-grade electronic components support dependable signal connections within a properly installed system.
Built-in crossover controls allow the system to be tailored to the speakers and subwoofer being used. The A/B channels offer selectable high-pass or low-pass filtering from 40 Hz to 500 Hz, while the subwoofer channel includes an adjustable low-pass filter in the same range. A selectable subwoofer low-pass slope and bass boost control add further tuning options for bass integration.
The GM-DX975 can accept RCA-level signals or speaker-level signals from a compatible factory or aftermarket stereo. Its speaker-level input can automatically turn the amplifier on when it detects a head-unit speaker signal, though this function may not work with every head unit. A wired bass boost remote is included for convenient adjustment of subwoofer bass boost from the listening position.
Key Features
- Five-Channel Layout: Powers four full-range speaker channels and one dedicated subwoofer channel from a single amplifier.
- Class-D Amplification: Provides efficient amplified power in a compact chassis for vehicle audio installations.
- Hi-Res Audio Certified: Full-range response extends to 50 kHz for compatible high-resolution audio systems.
- Flexible Power Configuration: Supports five-channel operation or three-channel operation with bridged full-range channels.
- Variable Crossovers: Adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters help match output to speakers and subwoofers.
- Wired Bass Remote: Lets the listener adjust subwoofer bass boost from an accessible mounted location.
Design & Installation
The GM-DX975 uses a compact 302 mm-wide chassis with high-grade electronic components and gold-plated RCA terminals. Its layout includes gain controls, filter controls, input-selection switches, power/protection indication, speaker-level input, and a connection for the wired bass boost remote. The protection system monitors abnormal conditions including output shorts, DC voltage at the speaker output, and excessive internal temperature.
Install the amplifier on a rigid surface with adequate ventilation above the chassis, and do not cover it with carpet or a floor mat. It requires a 12-volt negative-ground vehicle electrical system, with separately sold battery and ground wiring sized for the installation length; speaker and subwoofer wire should be 12 to 16 AWG. Use RCA inputs with an aftermarket receiver or the supplied-style speaker-input connection method with compatible factory speaker outputs, but do not connect both input types at the same time.

Can the GM-DX975 power my entire speaker and subwoofer system?
Yes. It has four full-range channels for front and rear speakers plus one dedicated subwoofer channel. At 4 ohms, it is rated at 75W RMS x4 plus 350W RMS x1.
Can I use this amplifier with a factory radio?
Yes, it has a speaker-level input for connection to factory speaker outputs. When using speaker-level input, the amplifier can turn on automatically with compatible head units, although Pioneer notes that this function may not work with every head unit.
Can the GM-DX975 run in a three-channel configuration?
Yes. The full-range channels can be bridged for three-channel operation, rated at 200W RMS x2 plus 350W RMS x1 at 4 ohms. This arrangement can be used for a strong front speaker stage and a subwoofer.
What subwoofer impedance can I use?
The subwoofer channel is rated for 350W RMS at 4 ohms or 600W RMS at 2 ohms. Pioneer specifies a 2- to 8-ohm allowable load range for the amplifier.
Is a bass knob included?
Yes. A wired bass boost remote is included and adjusts bass boost for the subwoofer output. Its adjustment range is 0 dB to 18 dB at 50 Hz.
What wiring is needed for installation?
Battery and ground wiring are sold separately and should be the same gauge. Pioneer specifies 8 AWG for runs under 2.2 m, 6 AWG for runs under 3.6 m, and 4 AWG for runs under 6.4 m; use 12 to 16 AWG speaker/subwoofer wire.
