The Memphis PRX800.5V2 is a five-channel car audio amplifier built to run a complete speaker-and-subwoofer system from one compact chassis. Its four full-range channels can power front and rear speakers, while the dedicated fifth channel is designed for a subwoofer. This layout helps simplify a system upgrade that would otherwise require separate multi-channel and mono amplifiers.

At 2 ohms, the PRX800.5V2 delivers 100 watts RMS to each of four main channels and 400 watts RMS to its subwoofer channel. It also provides 70 watts RMS x 4 plus 250 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms. The result is a practical power range for upgraded component or coaxial speakers paired with a properly matched subwoofer.

This amplifier is intended for listeners who want controlled full-range output and dedicated bass support without filling their vehicle with multiple amplifiers. Variable high-pass and low-pass crossover controls allow the system to be divided between speakers and subwoofer appropriately. The front and rear channels can also be bridged for installations that need two higher-power channels instead of four separate channels.

The PRX800.5V2 uses an extruded aluminum heatsink, platinum-plated connectors, and protection circuitry for overload, short-circuit, thermal, and reverse-polarity conditions. Its top-mounted control panel is accessible after removing the top cover, helping keep adjustments protected while retaining service access. A blue LED light indicates normal operation, while a red condition calls for troubleshooting.

Installation flexibility includes signal-sensing auto turn-on, high-level speaker inputs for many factory-radio integrations, and an input-mode switch for different signal configurations. The included RG6 remote bass control adjusts only the subwoofer channel. With its compact 10.13 x 5.7 x 2.16-inch chassis and single amplifier footprint, it is suited to organized full-system installations where available mounting space is limited.

Key Features

  • Five-Channel Layout: Powers four speakers and one subwoofer from one amplifier.
  • 800W RMS at 2 Ohms: Supplies 100W x 4 plus 400W x 1.
  • Bridgeable Main Channels: Runs two 200W RMS bridged channels when needed.
  • Variable Crossovers: Helps match speaker and subwoofer frequency ranges.
  • Remote Bass Control: Adjusts the dedicated subwoofer-channel output level.
  • Signal-Sensing Turn-On: Supports installations using compatible factory audio signals.

Design & Installation

The PRX800.5V2 is built around an extruded aluminum heatsink for heat management and uses platinum-plated connectors intended to provide corrosion-resistant electrical connections. Its compact chassis measures 10.13 x 5.7 x 2.16 inches, and the top-mounted controls are protected beneath a removable panel. An LED light strip provides operating-status indication.

For installation, use a 4-gauge amplifier kit and mount the amplifier in a secure location with adequate ventilation; avoid mounting it with the heatsink fins facing downward. The main channels are stable to 2 ohms in stereo or 4 ohms bridged, while the subwoofer channel is stable to 2 ohms. Use the high-pass filter for smaller speakers, the low-pass filter for the subwoofer channel, and verify final speaker impedance with a multimeter before connecting the amplifier.
