The Rockford Fosgate M2D4-10IB-G2 is a 10-inch marine subwoofer engineered for infinite-baffle installations, where a conventional enclosure is not practical. It adds low-frequency output to boats and powersports systems while preserving usable storage space. A properly built mounting baffle separates the front and rear sound waves for correct operation.

This black M2 Series subwoofer uses dual 4-ohm voice coils and a VersaSwitch that selects a 2-ohm or 8-ohm nominal load without requiring external series or parallel coil wiring. It handles 400 watts RMS and 1,600 watts peak. Its 32 Hz to 250 Hz frequency response supports bass and lower midbass duties in a marine audio system.

A mineral-filled polypropylene cone, chemically bonded co-molded polymer surround, and vented motor are used to support reliable performance in outdoor installations. The VAST surround design increases effective cone area, while the vented T-yoke helps manage heat and cone travel. With a 43 Hz free-air resonance, this driver is purpose-built for open-air and infinite-baffle mounting rather than a small sealed box.

Color Optix RGB lighting lets the subwoofer become part of a coordinated illuminated marine audio system. The optional Rockford Fosgate PMX-RGB controller and RF Connect app provide lighting control, while integrated Deutsch and Amphenol connections simplify compatible wiring. A two-piece grille system supports either the included stainless-steel grille insert or sport grille insert.

The M2D4-10IB-G2 is designed for marine and outdoor use with Element Ready construction, including UV-resistant materials, corrosion-resistant terminals, and an IPX6 water-intrusion rating. It is a practical fit for a boat, side-by-side, or other installation needing bass without dedicating room to a subwoofer enclosure. Pair it with an amplifier that is stable at the selected 2-ohm or 8-ohm load and rated appropriately for its 400-watt RMS capacity.

Design & Installation

The M2D4-10IB-G2 uses an injection-molded PA66 frame with 30% glass fill and UV inhibitors, a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, polymer surround, insulated silicone tinsel leads, and gold-plated marine-grade brass terminals. Its vented motor includes a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen, and its RGB lighting is enclosed in optically clear UV-stable material. The included grille components provide protection and allow a black sport or stainless-steel presentation.

Install this subwoofer in a solid mounting baffle that adequately isolates the front and rear wavelengths; it is not intended as a drop-in replacement for a conventional enclosed subwoofer design. Verify an 8.98-inch cutout and at least 4.70 inches of mounting depth before cutting, then use the selected VersaSwitch impedance setting to match the amplifier's approved load range. Color Optix lighting control requires the separately sold PMX-RGB controller, while the supplied RGB harness can be used for wiring.
