The Rockford Fosgate M2D2-10S-G2 is a 10-inch marine subwoofer designed to add low-frequency output to boats and powersports audio systems. This dual-voice-coil subwoofer is intended for marine system builders who need flexible impedance configuration without complex coil wiring. Its integrated VersaSwitch changes the final nominal load between 1 ohm and 4 ohms. That flexibility can help simplify amplifier matching during a new installation or system upgrade.

The M2D2-10S-G2 uses a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, polymer surround, 2-inch voice coil, and vented motor structure. These components are designed to support controlled bass performance in a compact sealed-box application. With a 22 Hz to 250 Hz frequency response, it is built to cover the low-bass range rather than replace full-range speakers.

Color Optix RGB LED illumination gives the subwoofer a lighting option for coordinated marine audio installations. Lighting control requires a compatible Rockford Fosgate Color Optix controller and the RF Connect app; the controller is sold separately. Integrated Deutsch and Amphenol connectivity helps support a plug-and-play lighting connection path.

For outdoor use, the M2D2-10S-G2 carries an IPX6 marine-grade water-intrusion rating and uses UV-resistant materials. It is supplied with stainless-steel grille hardware and supports interchangeable grille styling. Pair it with a sealed enclosure, compatible mono amplifier, suitable power wiring, and an optional Color Optix controller for a complete bass-and-lighting upgrade.

Design & Installation

The M2D2-10S-G2 uses a dark gray mineral-filled polypropylene cone, polymer surround, high-temperature PA66 glass-filled frame, and a 55.04-ounce magnet structure. Its vented motor is protected by a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen, while gold-plated marine-grade brass terminals support corrosion-resistant speaker connections. The supplied stainless-steel grille, black grille spacers, and UV-resistant construction are suited to exposed marine installations.

Install this subwoofer in a sealed enclosure with 0.5 to 1.25 cubic feet of internal volume, accounting for the subwoofer's 0.047-cubic-foot displacement. Confirm the 8.98-inch cutout and 4.70-inch mounting-depth requirements before cutting the mounting surface. Use the VersaSwitch to select the amplifier-compatible 1-ohm or 4-ohm nominal configuration, and add the optional PMX-RGB Color Optix controller if RGB lighting control is desired.
