The Rockford Fosgate M2D2-10IB-G2 is a 10-inch marine subwoofer designed for infinite-baffle installations where a conventional subwoofer enclosure is impractical. It uses a mounting baffle to separate the front and rear sound waves, allowing it to be installed in suitable boat panels, compartments, or cavities. This black Gen-2 M2 model is intended for marine audio systems that need dedicated low-frequency support without adding a separate box.

With 400 watts RMS and 1,600 watts peak power handling, the M2D2-10IB-G2 is built to complement a properly matched marine amplifier. Its 32-250 Hz frequency response, 13 mm Xmax, and mineral-filled polypropylene cone support controlled bass performance in an open-air installation. The dual 2-ohm voice-coil design uses Rockford Fosgate's VersaSwitch to select a 1- or 4-ohm final load without conventional series or parallel jumper wiring.

Marine installations expose equipment to water, UV, vibration, salt, and changing temperatures. This Element Ready subwoofer combines a Santoprene rubber surround, UV-stable lighting encapsulation, corrosion-resistant terminals, and an IPX6-rated design for those conditions. A vented motor with a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen and a high-temperature copper voice coil support thermal management during extended listening.

Integrated Color Optix RGB lighting adds illumination behind the grille for coordinated system styling. The included RGB harness connects the subwoofer to a compatible Rockford Fosgate Color Optix lighting system, while the PMX-RGB controller is required and sold separately for lighting control. Integrated Deutsch and Amphenol connectors help simplify compatible lighting-system connections.

The M2D2-10IB-G2 fits well in a complete Rockford Fosgate marine upgrade with a suitable mono or multi-channel amplifier, marine speakers, and Color Optix lighting controller. Design & Installation

This subwoofer uses a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, Santoprene rubber surround, 2-inch copper voice coil, double-stacked ferrite motor, and glass-filled PA66 injection-molded frame. Its black finish is paired with a removable grille arrangement, and the lighting assembly uses optically clear, UV-stable encapsulation. Marine-grade gold-plated brass terminals and sealed connector provisions are designed for the marine environment.

Install the M2D2-10IB-G2 in a rigid mounting baffle that adequately separates the front and rear wavelengths; it is not intended to operate with both sides of the cone sharing the same air space. The required cutout is 8.98 inches and mounting depth is 4.70 inches, with an 11.54-inch overall diameter. Use an amplifier rated appropriately for the selected 1- or 4-ohm load, set an infrasonic filter at or above the subwoofer's 43 Hz resonant frequency, and add a PMX-RGB controller separately if Color Optix lighting control is desired.
