The Rockford Fosgate M2D2-10I-G2 is a 10-inch marine subwoofer designed for infinite-baffle, or free-air, installations. It provides dedicated low-frequency output when a conventional subwoofer enclosure is impractical. Its white finish and interchangeable grille system suit marine audio systems with exposed speaker locations.

This dual-voice-coil model handles 400 watts RMS and 1,600 watts peak, with a 32 Hz to 250 Hz frequency response. It is intended for boat and powersports systems that need bass reinforcement while preserving usable storage space. The selectable 1-ohm or 4-ohm nominal impedance gives system builders flexibility when matching an amplifier.

The built-in VERSA impedance switch changes the dual 2-ohm voice-coil configuration between series and parallel operation without external coil-jumper wiring. This helps simplify amplifier matching during installation or future system changes. For best results, select the impedance setting with the amplifier powered off.

Color Optix RGB lighting is integrated into the subwoofer for coordinated illumination in compatible Rockford Fosgate marine systems. Lighting control requires the separately sold PMX-RGB controller and RF Connect app. The package supports a stainless-steel grille or color-matched sport grille appearance.

Element Ready construction is intended for marine exposure to water, salt, and UV conditions, and the subwoofer carries an IPX6 water-intrusion rating. A mineral-filled polypropylene cone, polymer surround, vented motor design, and corrosion-resistant terminals support its outdoor-focused design. It is sold individually and is intended to be paired with a suitable marine amplifier and properly isolated mounting baffle.

Design & Installation

The M2D2-10I-G2 uses an injection-molded mineral-filled polypropylene cone, polymer NCDI surround, and a high-temperature glass-filled PA66 frame with UV inhibitors. Its vented motor uses a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen, while gold-plated marine-grade brass terminals and sealed marine connectors support corrosion-resistant system integration. The white marine styling is complemented by UV-stable grille and RGB-lighting components.

Install this subwoofer in an infinite-baffle location that adequately separates the front and rear sound waves with a mounting baffle. Confirm the 8.98-inch cutout and 4.70-inch mounting-depth requirements before cutting, then match the amplifier to the selected 1-ohm or 4-ohm impedance setting and 400-watt RMS rating. A PMX-RGB controller is required for Color Optix lighting control, and the supplied 4-wire RGB harness supports the lighting connection.
