Rockford Fosgate M1WL-65MB 6.5" Color Optix Moto-Can Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M1WL-65MB is a pair of 6.5-inch, 2-way Moto-Can speakers designed for SXS, UTV, and other open-air motorsports installations. Their enclosed, clamp-mounted format provides a practical way to add amplified audio where conventional in-panel speaker locations are unavailable. The black finish and integrated sport grilles give them a coordinated appearance on compatible roll-cage systems.

Each Moto-Can uses a 4-ohm M1-series speaker rated for 75 watts RMS and 300 watts peak power handling. The system combines a 6.5-inch woofer with a 1-inch dome tweeter to cover low, midrange, and high-frequency content in an outdoor listening environment. With a 38 Hz to 22 kHz frequency-response rating and 92 dB sensitivity, it is intended for systems that need useful output over vehicle and wind noise.

Color Optix RGB lighting is integrated into the Moto-Can enclosure, including the rear illuminated medallion. Lighting can be customized through a compatible Rockford Fosgate Color Optix controller and the RF Connect app; the PMX-RGB controller is sold separately. The rear medallion can be rotated after mounting to keep the logo properly oriented.

The M1WL-65MB is built around Rockford Fosgate's Element Ready approach for exposed installations. Its sealed high-density ASA enclosure, UV-stable grille and frame construction, water-intrusion rating, and sealed connector arrangement support use around sun, water spray, dirt, and mud. The loaded enclosure also uses an injection-molded mineral-filled polypropylene woofer cone with UV inhibitors.

Installation is designed around supplied universal clamps for round bars from 1 to 2 inches in diameter. The cans offer 360-degree aiming adjustment, allowing the speakers to be directed toward occupants once mounted. Integrated Deutsch/Amphenol-style connections simplify the interface between the speakers, lighting wiring, and the rest of a Rockford Fosgate motorsports audio system.

Design & Installation

The M1WL-65MB uses a sealed high-density ASA enclosure with black sport grilles and a UV-stable exterior design. Its mineral-filled polypropylene woofer cone uses UV inhibitors, while VAST surround construction increases effective radiating cone area. The enclosure is IPX6 rated for water intrusion and includes a rear illuminated medallion that can be rotated to suit the final mounting orientation.

Use the included clamps and rubber inserts to mount each can on a compatible 1- to 2-inch round bar, leaving enough clearance for full aiming adjustment. Run speaker and lighting wiring before final mounting, then connect the integrated harnesses while observing correct speaker polarity and providing appropriate fused 9-16 VDC power for the LEDs. For customized RGB control, add a compatible Rockford Fosgate Color Optix controller such as the separately sold PMX-RGB.
