Rockford Fosgate M1D4-10B 10" Marine LED Subwoofer

The Rockford Fosgate M1D4-10B is a 10-inch marine subwoofer designed to add low-frequency output to boats and powersports audio systems. Its dual 4-ohm voice coils and built-in VersaSwitch provide a choice of 2-ohm or 8-ohm final impedance. This makes it a flexible option when matching a subwoofer to a compatible amplifier and system layout.

With 300 watts RMS and 1,200 watts peak power handling, the M1D4-10B is intended for systems that need substantial bass reinforcement without moving to a larger 12-inch model. Its rated frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 750 Hz, supporting dedicated low-bass duty when used with appropriate crossover settings. A 91.5 dB sensitivity rating helps it produce useful output from moderate amplifier power.

The M1D4-10B uses an injection-molded mineral-filled polypropylene cone with UV inhibitors and a Santoprene VAST surround. The vertical attach surround technique increases effective radiating cone area while maintaining a compact 10-inch format. A 2-inch high-temperature Kapton voice-coil former, linear synthetic-fiber spiders, and insulated silicone tinsel leads support its marine-focused construction.

Color Optix RGB lighting is integrated behind the black grille for coordinated illumination in compatible Rockford Fosgate systems. The subwoofer connects to a separately sold PMX-RGB Color Optix controller and can be adjusted through the RF Connect app. Integrated Deutsch and Amphenol connections help simplify RGB and speaker wiring in a marine installation.

Built for exposed installations, the M1D4-10B carries an IP67 certification and uses UV-stable ASA plastic for its frame and grille. Its vented motor includes a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen, while marine-grade brass terminals receive zinc-nickel plating. It can be used in sealed or vented enclosures sized to the published recommendations.

Design & Installation

The M1D4-10B combines a UV-inhibited mineral-filled polypropylene cone, co-molded Santoprene surround, UV-stable ASA frame and grille, and a vented motor with nano-coated mesh protection. Its 2-inch Kapton voice coil former and linear synthetic-fiber spiders are intended to support reliable operation in marine and motorsports environments. The black grille is included and complements installations where a darker speaker finish is preferred.

Plan for an 8.90-inch cutout and 4.23-inch mounting depth, and use either a sealed 1.1-cubic-foot enclosure or a vented 1.45-cubic-foot enclosure as published. Set the VersaSwitch for the 2-ohm or 8-ohm load appropriate for the amplifier, then follow the amplifier manufacturer's impedance guidance. RGB lighting requires the separately sold PMX-RGB Color Optix controller and compatible wiring.
