Pioneer TS-A2500LB 10" Shallow-Mount Loaded Subwoofer

The Pioneer TS-A2500LB is a 10-inch shallow-mount loaded subwoofer enclosure designed to add low-frequency output where installation depth is limited. Its compact sealed enclosure helps make bass reinforcement practical in many trunks, cargo areas, and standard- or extended-cab pickup applications. Because the driver is already installed in its enclosure, it avoids the need to select and build a separate subwoofer box.

This is a passive subwoofer system, so it is intended to connect to a separate external amplifier rather than directly to a head unit's speaker outputs. With 300 watts RMS power handling and a 2-ohm single voice coil, it is suited to a properly matched mono amplifier channel. Pioneer recommends using an amplifier with continuous RMS output below the subwoofer's 300-watt nominal input rating.

The TS-A2500LB uses a glass-fiber- and mica-reinforced injection-molded polypropylene cone, commonly called IMPP, to provide a rigid diaphragm for bass reproduction. A rubber surround and aramid-fiber dual-spider design support controlled cone movement. The sealed enclosure design is intended for a compact installation and a controlled bass character.

Its low-profile cabinet measures 20.875 inches wide, 11.750 inches high, and 5.875 inches deep, allowing placement where a conventional deep subwoofer enclosure may not fit. The enclosure can be installed upright, flat with the driver facing upward, or in a down-firing arrangement. Removable feet and cushions support those different placement options.

The TS-A2500LB can be used as the bass foundation of an A-Series speaker upgrade or added to another car audio system that has an appropriate amplifier and subwoofer signal path. Pioneer specifies a 2-ohm nominal impedance, so amplifier compatibility should be checked before installation. A low-pass filter is recommended, with Pioneer identifying 80 Hz at 12 dB per octave as an effective setting.

Design & Installation

The TS-A2500LB combines a carpeted enclosure with an embroidered Pioneer logo, a fully covered steel mesh grille, and a 10-inch woofer using a reinforced IMPP cone. Its rubber surround, aramid-fiber dual-spider design, stamped-steel basket, and ferrite magnet are part of the subwoofer construction. The carpeted surface is intended to resist slipping and protect surrounding surfaces from scratches.

Connect this passive enclosure to an external amplifier using speaker cable thicker than AWG 18; speaker wire is not supplied. Pioneer recommends a low-pass filter at 80 Hz with a 12 dB-per-octave slope, and the enclosure should be securely mounted using the included hardware as appropriate for the vehicle. Four threaded feet, four adhesive cushions, two angle brackets, and eight mounting screws are included for installation flexibility.
