Kenwood KCA-R100 Full HD Rear Dash Camera

The Kenwood KCA-R100 is an optional rear camera designed to add rear-window video recording to a compatible Kenwood dash camera system. It gives drivers a second recording angle behind the vehicle while the front camera records ahead. This makes it a practical add-on for drivers who want front-and-rear incident documentation without installing a separate standalone rear recorder.

Its imaging performance is built around a 1/2.8-inch CMOS sensor, Full HD 1920 x 1080 recording, and a 30 fps frame rate. The F2.0 fixed-focus lens provides a 129-degree horizontal, 66-degree vertical, and 161-degree diagonal field of view. Video is recorded in H.264 MOV format for use with the connected compatible dash camera.

The KCA-R100 uses a 180-degree adjustable lens position to help accommodate different rear-window angles and vehicle layouts. This adjustability is useful for cars, trucks, and RVs where the camera may need to be aimed differently to achieve the intended rearward view. The supplied adhesive mount supports a clean installation on the inside of the rear windshield.

An 8-meter rear-camera cable connects the KCA-R100 to the CAM-IN port of a compatible dashboard camera. The rear camera receives power through this connection and begins recording when power is available through the dash camera system. Footage from the front and rear cameras is recorded simultaneously when paired with a compatible model.

The KCA-R100 is compatible with Kenwood DRV-A501W and DRV-A700W front dash cameras. It is not a standalone dash camera and requires a compatible Kenwood front camera for operation and recording. For a tidy, safe installation, route the cable through interior trim while keeping it clear of airbags and the driver's field of view.

Design & Installation

The compact KCA-R100 measures 63 x 66 x 36 mm and uses an adhesive mounting system for interior rear-window placement. Its adjustable mounting holder allows the lens position to be changed up to 180 degrees. The package includes the rear camera, adhesive mount, 8-meter Mini USB cable, adhesive pads, and spare 3M adhesive pads.

Install the camera where it does not obstruct the driver's view, then connect its cable to the CAM-IN port on a compatible Kenwood dashboard camera. Clean and dry the mounting surface before applying the adhesive, and allow 24 hours for the adhesive to achieve its best bond. Route the cable behind headliner and trim panels as appropriate, ensuring it does not interfere with airbags or vehicle operation.
