The XtremeVision XV-30LCC-CH is a rear-view backup camera integrated into a chrome license plate frame. It is designed to add a rear-facing video view for drivers reversing into parking spaces, driveways, and other confined areas. Its universal license plate-frame format is intended for vehicles using a standard U.S. license plate mounting location.

A 170-degree viewing angle helps show a broad area behind the vehicle, supporting awareness of rear obstacles and blind spots while backing up. The camera uses a CCD image sensor and provides a 640 x 480 capture resolution. It is built for use with compatible video displays that accept its composite video signal.

For low-light reversing, the XV-30LCC-CH uses eight infrared LEDs to illuminate the camera view. The specified minimum illumination is 0.05 lux, and automatic gain control, white balance, and backlight compensation help the camera adapt to changing light conditions. These functions are intended to support a more usable rear image in daylight, shade, garages, and nighttime environments.

The camera is housed in a heavy-duty chrome-plated license plate frame for a clean, integrated exterior appearance. Its IP66-IP67 weather-resistance rating is specified for exposure to dust and water encountered in normal exterior vehicle use. The camera is also specified for operation from -20°C to 70°C.

This camera is a practical upgrade for vehicles equipped with an aftermarket receiver, mirror monitor, or other display with a compatible rear-camera video input. It operates from a 12-volt DC vehicle electrical system and has a power draw below 1 watt. The adjustable camera position allows the viewing angle to be aimed during installation for the vehicle's rear mounting location.

Design & Installation

The XV-30LCC-CH uses a chrome-plated, license plate-frame-style housing intended for standard U.S. license plate locations. The camera is mounted within the frame and can be adjusted by loosening its screw mechanism, with up to 30 degrees of angle adjustment specified. Its weather-resistant construction and operating-temperature range are suited to exterior vehicle mounting.

Installation requires mounting the frame at the rear license plate position, connecting the camera to a 12V DC vehicle power source, and routing its composite video output to a compatible display or head unit. For conventional reverse-camera operation, the camera power can be connected so it operates when reverse gear is selected. Confirm that the receiving display supports the camera's NTSC or PAL video system before installation.
