The CrimeStopper CAM400 is a universal exterior vehicle camera designed to add a wide rear- or front-view image to a compatible video display or source unit. Its 170-degree viewing angle helps cover a broad area behind or ahead of the vehicle for parking and low-speed maneuvering. The camera is intended for cars, trucks, SUVs, RVs, and other vehicles needing a flexible camera placement solution.

This four-in-one camera includes square, flush, angle, and contoured rubber mounting options to accommodate different body panels and installation locations. It can also be used with compatible license-plate-frame applications. The included mounting choices help installers select an approach that suits the vehicle without relying on a single fixed housing style.

The CAM400 uses a CMOS image sensor and is rated for 0.3-lux minimum illumination for operation in low-light conditions. It does not require infrared LEDs for nighttime use. A selectable normal or reverse image allows the camera orientation to match front- or rear-facing placement.

Selectable parking lines provide an optional visual reference when positioning the vehicle. The camera delivers a 1 Vp-p video output at 75 ohms, so it is suited to systems with a compatible camera video input. Its operating range of 6 to 16 volts supports use in typical vehicle electrical systems.

An IP67 marine-grade rating and UV-light protection support exterior installation where the camera may be exposed to dust, water, and sunlight. The supplied 24-foot video cable and 6-foot power cable provide a 30-foot combined camera-harness length for many front-to-rear vehicle runs. It is a practical upgrade for a compatible aftermarket monitor, mirror monitor, or receiver with a camera input.

Design & Installation

The CAM400 is built for exterior vehicle use with an IP67 marine-grade waterproof rating and UV-light protection. Its compact eyeball-style camera housing works with four included mount styles, allowing the camera to be positioned on a variety of vehicle surfaces. The flush-mount option uses a 15/16-inch (24 mm) hole saw size.

For installation, connect the red lead to an accessory or reverse-trigger power source and the black lead to a clean, paint-free metal ground. The purple lead can pass a rear reverse trigger forward to the source unit when needed, while the green and white loops control parking lines and camera orientation. Confirm that the display or source unit accepts a 1 Vp-p, 75-ohm camera video signal before installation.
