The JBL Club 64C is a 6.5-inch, two-way component car speaker system designed for upgrading factory front-stage audio. It separates the woofer and tweeter so installers can place high frequencies closer to the listening position while retaining dedicated midbass drivers in the doors or factory speaker locations. This approach suits drivers seeking clearer imaging and more flexible speaker placement than a conventional coaxial speaker provides.

Rated for 70 watts RMS and 210 watts peak, the Club 64C is built for use with an aftermarket amplifier or a compatible factory or aftermarket source. Its 3-ohm nominal impedance is intended to help extract useful output from many car-audio systems. With a 55 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and 92 dB sensitivity measured at 2.83V, it covers core midbass and high-frequency duties in a component setup.

The system uses JBL Plus One woofer cone architecture, which increases cone area compared with conventional speakers of a similar overall size. Its acoustically damped, UV-resistant polypropylene woofer cone is designed for clean response while handling the heat and humidity associated with automotive installation. JBL also specifies a larger magnet structure to support the system's power-handling capability.

Separate external crossovers divide the audio signal between the woofers and tweeters at a specified 5.5 kHz crossover point. The crossover provides selectable tweeter output settings of 0 dB or +3 dB, allowing the installer to compensate for tweeter position and cabin acoustics. This is useful when tweeters are mounted low in doors, high on A-pillars, or behind factory grilles.

The Club 64C includes a broad selection of installation hardware for adapting the woofers and mounting the tweeters. JBL supplies flush-mount, surface-mount, and Starfish tweeter mounting components, along with adapter rings, grilles, crossovers, and fasteners. It is a practical choice for a front-speaker upgrade when paired with appropriate vehicle-specific wiring, fitment parts, and an amplifier or head unit that can operate a 3-ohm speaker load.

Design & Installation

The Club 64C combines polypropylene woofer cones with a larger magnet structure and separate passive crossovers. The woofers measure 158 mm across, while the supplied grilles and plastic multi-hole adapter rings support a range of mounting approaches. The tweeter mounting system includes locking hardware and supports flush-mount aiming up to ±40 degrees.

Confirm door-panel clearance, factory opening size, mounting depth, and the vehicle's speaker wiring before installation. The woofer has a listed 127 mm mounting cutout and 51.5 mm mounting depth, while flush mounting the tweeter requires a 1-3/4-inch cutout and 1-inch mounting depth. Route the woofer and tweeter through the included crossover, choose the 0 dB or +3 dB tweeter setting for the installation location, and use vehicle-specific adapters or harnesses where required.
