JBL Club 64CTP 6.5" Component Speakers With Tweeter Pods

The JBL Club 64CTP is a 6-1/2-inch two-way component speaker system designed for vehicle audio upgrades. It separates the woofer and tweeter so installers can place the high frequencies independently from the midbass drivers. The system includes dedicated crossovers and tweeter pods to support a more flexible installation than a conventional coaxial speaker.

This set is suited to drivers replacing factory door speakers while seeking separate tweeter placement. Its 3.0-ohm nominal impedance and 92dB sensitivity are specified for efficient operation in automotive audio systems. Power handling is rated at 70W RMS and 210W peak for the complete component system.

The 6-1/2-inch woofers use JBL Plus One cone architecture, which increases cone area within the speaker size. Their acoustically damped polypropylene cones are UV-resistant for use in the heat and humidity of a vehicle environment. The published frequency response is 55Hz to 20kHz.

Separate tweeters help bring upper-frequency detail closer to the preferred listening position. The included external crossovers use a 5.5kHz crossover point and provide a selectable tweeter output level of 0dB or +3dB. This adjustment can help account for tweeter mounting location and cabin acoustics.

The Club 64CTP package supports several tweeter mounting approaches, including flush, surface, Starfish adapter, I-Mount, and pod installations. The dedicated pods offer angle adjustment after mounting for more controlled aiming. It is a practical choice for a component-speaker upgrade where door woofer fitment and flexible tweeter positioning are both important.

Design & Installation

The Club 64CTP uses 6-1/2-inch polypropylene woofers with JBL Plus One cone architecture and separate tweeters. External crossovers divide the signal at 5.5kHz, while the tweeter system includes flush-mount, surface-mount, Starfish, I-Mount, and pod hardware. Grilles, adapter rings, mounting hardware, spacers, washers, and foam gasket material are included.

Verify the vehicle's speaker opening, mounting depth, and available door-panel clearance before installation. The woofer has a 158.0mm outside diameter, 127.0mm cutout diameter, and 51.5mm mounting depth. Connect each woofer and tweeter through its included crossover, then select the 0dB or +3dB tweeter level and aim the pod or I-Mount tweeter as needed.
