The Hertz CX690 is a pair of 6x9-inch three-way coaxial car speakers designed for factory-location upgrades and custom horizontal installations. Its integrated woofer, dome tweeter, and dome supertweeter consolidate full-range reproduction into each speaker assembly. This makes it a practical option for vehicles that use elliptical 6x9-inch speaker locations.

With 100 watts continuous power handling and a 4-ohm impedance, the CX690 can be used with an appropriate aftermarket amplifier or a compatible car stereo. Its 93.5 dB sensitivity supports strong output from available power. The specified 40 Hz to 23 kHz frequency response covers bass, midrange, and high-frequency content within a single coaxial design.

The 6x9-inch woofer uses Hertz SPP-M semi-pressed paper reinforced with mica powder. This cone material is engineered to balance low moving mass with damping characteristics. A wide rubber surround supports woofer excursion while helping control unwanted resonance.

For upper-frequency reproduction, the CX690 combines a 40 mm dome tweeter with a 20 mm dome supertweeter. The tweeter faceplate geometry is optimized for off-axis listening, an important consideration in many rear-deck and door installations. This three-way arrangement is intended to maintain high-frequency presence when the speakers are installed horizontally.

A high-density ferrite woofer motor, low-carbon steel polar plates, and a rubber-covered metallic-finish basket support the speaker's mechanical design. The included grilles add protection where the installation permits their use. The CX690 can serve as a direct 6x9-inch replacement or as part of a broader Hertz Cento speaker-system upgrade.

Design & Installation

The CX690 uses a semi-pressed paper-mica woofer cone, wide rubber suspension, high-density ferrite woofer magnet, and neodymium tweeter magnet. Its metallic-finish basket is paired with a rubber magnet cover intended to damp spurious vibration. The supplied grille uses a high-resistance ABS support with protective metal mesh.

Confirm the vehicle's available 6x9-inch opening, mounting depth, clearance behind the mounting surface, and grille clearance before installation. The speaker has a listed mounting depth of 78.5 mm (3.09 inches), so adapters or spacers may be needed in some vehicles. Connect each speaker to a 4-ohm-compatible amplifier or head-unit channel and use clean, properly set power within its rated handling limits.
