The Cerwin Vega VS12 is a passive spare-tire subwoofer enclosure designed to add low-frequency output while preserving usable cargo space. It installs in the spare-tire well rather than occupying the trunk with a conventional box. This makes it a practical option for drivers who want added bass in vehicles with limited storage room.

Rated for 300 watts RMS and 600 watts maximum, the VS12 is intended to pair with an external amplifier. Its 20 Hz to 500 Hz frequency response supports low-bass reinforcement for music and full-range vehicle audio systems. The passive design lets the installer select an amplifier appropriate for the system’s power and wiring plan.

The enclosure is built around an 11.3-inch subwoofer driver within the product’s 12-inch spare-tire-subwoofer format. A treated-paper cone, rubber surround, stamped-steel basket, and ferrite ceramic magnet are specified for the driver. With a listed sensitivity of 90 dB, it is engineered to provide controlled bass output in a compact vehicle installation.

The VS12 uses dual 4-ohm voice coils and has a 4-inch voice-coil diameter. This configuration should be matched carefully with the amplifier and final wiring arrangement before installation. Because it is not amplified, it does not provide built-in crossover, gain, or bass-boost controls.

Designed for use in the spare-tire area, the VS12 can fit many modern vehicles without removing the spare tire. Its 14.2-inch mounting length and 5.7-inch mounting width should still be checked against the available wheel-well depth and trunk-floor clearance. It is suited to factory-system upgrades and custom systems where retaining a clean, space-conscious installation is important.

The unit’s compact 14.2-inch by 5.7-inch mounting footprint is intended for vehicles where available cargo space is limited.

Confirm spare-tire-well dimensions, wheel orientation, center-mount hardware, and trunk-floor clearance before purchase. The manual describes 8 mm and 10 mm mounting bolts, plus a replacement ABS fixing nut for certain Audi/VW-style spare-tire retention systems. Connect the supplied speaker-wire harness to the enclosure after mounting, then use an appropriately configured external amplifier and follow its wiring and crossover instructions.
