Cerwin-Vega H6E12SV 12" Vented Subwoofer Enclosure

The Cerwin-Vega H6E12SV is a loaded, passive 12-inch subwoofer enclosure for adding low-frequency output to a car audio system. It combines one HED Series subwoofer with a factory-tuned vented cabinet, so the subwoofer and enclosure are already matched. Because it is passive, it requires an external amplifier.

This enclosure is suited to drivers who want a straightforward bass upgrade without selecting a separate raw subwoofer and building a custom box. Its 2-ohm final impedance and 250-watt RMS power handling make amplifier matching an important part of the installation. The vented design is intended to provide strong low-bass presence in a compact, ready-to-use format.

The installed subwoofer uses a polypropylene cone, treated-foam surround, stamped-steel basket, and ferrite ceramic magnet. These materials support a durable mobile-audio driver design while the 2-inch voice coil handles the enclosure's rated power range. Cerwin-Vega lists a 20 Hz to 500 Hz frequency response for the loaded enclosure.

The cabinet is built from 3/4-inch medium-density fiberboard and finished in black carpet. Its angled hatchback-style profile is designed for common trunk and cargo-area installations. The enclosure measures approximately 21 inches long by 15 inches wide by 14 inches high.

Pair the H6E12SV with a stable external amplifier that is appropriate for a 2-ohm load and rated near its 250-watt RMS handling. It can be used as the bass foundation of a factory-radio upgrade when the proper amplifier integration hardware is added. A compatible 12-inch HED mesh grille is available separately from Cerwin-Vega for added driver protection.

The H6E12SV uses a 3/4-inch MDF vented enclosure with a black carpet exterior and an angled hatchback-style cabinet shape. The installed driver combines a polypropylene cone, treated-foam surround, stamped-steel basket, ferrite magnet, and 2-inch voice coil. Its single-voice-coil configuration presents a 2-ohm final load.

Mount the enclosure securely in a trunk, hatch, or cargo area where its 21 x 15 x 14 inch dimensions will fit while leaving clearance for the port and wiring. Connect it to a properly installed external amplifier that is stable at 2 ohms, then set gain and low-pass filtering conservatively to match the system. The enclosure has one binding-post terminal connection; use appropriate speaker wire and follow amplifier and vehicle wiring safety practices.
