The Audison AVK6SII is a 6.5-inch, 2-way component speaker kit designed for a front-stage car audio upgrade. It pairs separate AV 6.5 S II mid-bass woofers with AV 1.0 II tweeters and dedicated passive crossover networks. The separate-driver layout allows the tweeters to be positioned higher in the cabin while the woofers fit typical door or kick-panel locations.

This kit is intended for listeners who want more controlled mid-bass, clearer vocals, and extended treble than a coaxial or factory speaker arrangement can typically provide. The 6.5-inch woofers are rated for 125 watts continuous power each and use a 36 mm CCAW voice coil. Their 50 Hz to 5.5 kHz operating range supports use as the mid-bass foundation of a two-way front stage.

The AV 1.0 II tweeters use 25.4 mm Tetolon fiber domes and are Hi-Res Audio certified with response specified to 40 kHz. Their compact form and supplied mounting hardware support flush, angled, and surface-oriented placement choices. This can be useful where factory sail panels, A-pillars, or custom tweeter locations place the listener off-axis.

Audison separates the passive networks into an AVCX 2 W low-pass crossover for each woofer and an AVCX 2 T high-pass crossover for each tweeter. The woofer section uses a 6 dB/octave low-pass network, while the tweeter section uses a 12 dB/octave high-pass network. The crossover system is set around 3.5 kHz with the woofer Mid-Contour control off, and it provides adjustments for tweeter output and woofer mid-contour response.

The AVK6SII is suitable for a passive two-channel installation or for a system planned around bi-amplification. It includes plug-and-play speaker pigtails alongside standard speaker terminals, which can simplify serviceability and vehicle integration. For an active DSP-based installation, Audison specifies a 3 kHz, 24 dB/octave high-pass point for the AV 1.0 II tweeter and a 70 Hz, 24 dB/octave high-pass point for the AV 6.5 S II woofer.

Design & Installation

The AV 6.5 S II woofer combines a pressed paper cone, butyl rubber surround, die-cast aluminum basket, and high-density-flux ferrite magnet assembly. Its motor includes an aluminum shorting ring to reduce inductance, while the 36 mm copper-clad aluminum voice coil is paired with a compact 61 mm mounting-depth specification. The AV 1.0 II uses a Tetolon fiber dome and AIF faceplate system with four supplied faceplates.

Confirm available door clearance and the required 140.8 mm woofer mounting opening before installation; the woofer has a 165 mm outside diameter and 61 mm mounting depth. Install each AVCX 2 W and AVCX 2 T crossover in a dry, secure location and follow the labeled wiring layout for passive or bi-amplified operation. The kit includes mounting options for the tweeters, plus OEM-style two-pin pigtails that may be soldered or crimped to vehicle wiring.
