Zoom B1X FOUR Bass Multi-Effects Processor

The Zoom B1X FOUR is a compact multi-effects processor designed specifically for electric bass. It brings effects processing, amp modeling, rhythm playback, looping, and tuning into one pedalboard-friendly unit. This helps players build a flexible bass setup without needing multiple individual pedals for common sound-shaping tasks.

It is suited to bassists practicing at home, rehearsing with a band, performing live, or exploring new tones. The standard mono instrument input supports both active and passive basses, while the auxiliary input allows connection of a personal music player. A combined output supports connection to a bass amp or headphones for private practice.

The B1X FOUR provides more than 70 built-in bass effects and nine amp models, covering practical tools such as compression and EQ alongside modulation, synth-style, octave, fuzz, and ambient effects. Up to five effects can run simultaneously in any order, allowing players to construct complete signal chains within a patch. Fifty user-patch locations provide space to store customized sounds.

An integrated expression pedal gives hands-free, real-time adjustment of assigned parameters. It can control effects including volume, wah, delay, and pitch, making gradual tonal changes possible during a performance. The processor also includes a 128 x 32 dot-matrix LCD, 32-bit signal processing, and 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion.

For practice and songwriting, the B1X FOUR combines a 30-second looper with 68 built-in rhythm patterns. It can operate from four AA batteries, optional Zoom AD-16 power, or USB bus power, making it practical for desktop, pedalboard, and portable use. USB connectivity supports firmware updates, power, and Zoom Guitar Lab software for patch and effect management.

Design & Installation

The B1X FOUR uses a compact pedal-style layout with an integrated expression pedal, footswitches, control knobs, and a backlit 128 x 32 dot-matrix LCD. Zoom specifies a 216 mm wide, 156 mm deep, 52 mm high enclosure weighing 610 g without batteries. Its low-profile format is sized for desktop editing, floor operation, or integration into an existing pedalboard.

Connect a bass to the standard mono input and route the stereo output to an amplifier, audio system, or headphones. Use the 3.5 mm auxiliary input to play along with a music source, and use a USB 2.0 Micro-B data cable for Guitar Lab, firmware updates, or USB power. The unit may also run from four AA batteries or an optional center-negative 9V DC, 500 mA Zoom AD-16 adapter.
