The sE Electronics T1(P) is a factory-matched pair of large-diaphragm condenser microphones built for stereo recording and dual-microphone applications. Each microphone uses a fixed cardioid pattern to focus on the intended source while reducing pickup from the rear. The pair is suited to studio recording, live sound, drum overheads, instrument spot miking, and stereo techniques.

The T1 uses a hand-crafted 1-inch titanium-sputtered true-condenser capsule designed for clear transient reproduction. Its response is well suited to sources with quick attack, including drums, cymbals, hand percussion, and upright bass. The cardioid-only design keeps operation straightforward for engineers who need a consistent directional pickup pattern.

Selectable -10 dB and -20 dB attenuation pads help the T1 accommodate high-output sources before they reach the connected preamp. Switchable 80 Hz and 160 Hz low-cut filters can reduce low-frequency rumble, footfall noise, and excessive proximity effect. These controls allow the microphones to be adapted at the source rather than relying entirely on later processing.

Each microphone has a 3-pin XLR output and requires 48V phantom power from a compatible audio interface, mixer, or microphone preamp. With a maximum SPL rating of up to 157 dB when the -20 dB pad is selected, the T1 can be used on loud instruments as well as vocals and acoustic sources. Its 9 dB(A) equivalent noise level also supports detailed recording applications.

The T1(P) package provides two microphones selected and tuned by sE Electronics for closely matched frequency response. A stereo mounting bar supports convenient paired placement, while the included shockmounts help isolate each microphone from stand-borne vibration. It is a practical choice when building a stereo recording setup around an interface or mixer with two phantom-powered XLR inputs.

Design & Installation

Each T1 microphone uses a die-cast all-metal housing, metal switches, and a rugged spring-steel wire-mesh grille. The compact body measures 146 mm long by 29 mm wide and weighs 290 g per microphone. Its custom shockmount is designed to hold the microphone securely while helping reduce mechanically transmitted vibration.

Connect each microphone to a balanced XLR input on a mixer, audio interface, or microphone preamp, then enable 48V phantom power only when the connected equipment supports it. Use the included stereo mounting bar for coincident or closely spaced stereo setups, or mount the microphones separately for overheads and spot-miking. Select the pad and low-cut settings according to source volume, microphone distance, and low-frequency buildup.
