The RØDE NT1 Signature Series is a large-diaphragm studio condenser microphone designed for vocals, instruments, voice-over work, streaming and podcasting. This blue NT1SIGNATUREBLUE version uses an analog XLR connection rather than USB. It is intended for creators who want a dedicated studio microphone that connects to an audio interface, mixer or console with phantom power.

Its 1-inch HF6 true condenser capsule combines a smooth 20Hz–20kHz frequency range with a tight cardioid pickup pattern. The result is a focused capture of the source in front of the microphone while helping reduce sound arriving from behind it. Its sound character is described by RØDE as warm in the low end, detailed through the midrange and clear in the highs.

The NT1 Signature Series has a 4dBA equivalent noise rating, which is useful when recording quieter vocals, acoustic instruments and spoken-word sources. Its sensitivity is rated at 25mV/Pa at 94dB SPL, helping it provide a healthy output to a suitable microphone preamp. A 142dB SPL maximum rating also supports close recording of louder sources such as drums, percussion and amplified instruments.

This is an XLR condenser microphone, so it requires 48V phantom power from a compatible audio interface, mixer or preamp. The included XLR cable carries both the analog signal and phantom power connection. It is a practical fit for home studios, production rooms and desktop recording setups built around an interface or mixer.

The package includes the SM6 studio shock mount and detachable pop filter to help address vibration, handling noise and vocal plosives. The mount can be used on a standard microphone stand or studio arm, allowing the microphone to be positioned upright or inverted. That included accessory set makes it straightforward to add the NT1 Signature Series to an existing XLR recording chain.

Design & Installation

The NT1 Signature Series has a rugged high-grade aluminum body with a durable blue finish designed to resist scuffs and scratches. It is a side-address microphone, and the gold dot on the body identifies the front of the capsule. The microphone measures 189mm high by 52mm wide and weighs 313g.

Install the microphone in the included SM6 shock mount, orienting its gold dot toward the pop filter and sound source. The SM6 fits standard microphone stands and studio arms with 5/8-inch or 3/8-inch threads, and can be used upright or upside down. Connect the included XLR cable to a compatible input, lower the input gain before connection, then enable 48V phantom power on the connected device.
