The Rockford Fosgate PM1000X1BD is a marine-grade mono amplifier designed to add dedicated low-frequency power to boat, powersports, and motorsport audio systems. It delivers a single amplified channel for subwoofers or mid-bass drivers, helping a system produce stronger bass without relying on a full-range amplifier. Its compact chassis supports installations where available mounting space is limited.

This amplifier is intended for listeners building a focused bass section in an outdoor or marine environment. It provides 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms, 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms, or 1,000 watts RMS at 1 ohm. Match the final speaker load carefully to the amplifier's supported impedance and the RMS capability of the connected speakers.

Class-BD circuit topology is used for efficient low-frequency amplification, while the frequency response is tailored from 20 Hz to 250 Hz. A variable low-pass crossover helps keep higher frequencies out of the subwoofer channel. The built-in 28 Hz infrasonic filter can also help limit very low frequencies below the useful range of many bass systems.

The PM1000X1BD accepts either high-level or low-level input through one RCA input pair, making it suitable for systems using an aftermarket receiver or compatible factory audio signal. Auto turn-on capability can simplify integration when using a high-level source. RCA pass-through outputs provide a signal path for adding another amplifier.

Built for marine and motorsport use, the amplifier combines a cast-aluminum heatsink with a conformal-coated circuit board, marine-grade two-part epoxy board coating, and stainless-steel hardware. C.L.E.A.N. setup indicators help with gain adjustment, while optional PLC2 compatibility adds remote level control capability. It is a practical choice for a system upgrade centered on one or more properly wired bass drivers.

Key Features

  • Mono Class-BD Amplification: Provides dedicated low-frequency power with efficient Class-BD operation.
  • 1-Ohm Stable Output: Supports up to 1,000 watts RMS into a 1-ohm load.
  • Marine-Grade Construction: Uses coated circuit boards and stainless-steel hardware for outdoor applications.
  • High- and Low-Level Inputs: Connects to compatible factory or aftermarket audio sources.
  • Adjustable Bass Processing: Includes low-pass, infrasonic, and Punch EQ controls for bass tuning.
  • C.L.E.A.N. Setup Indicators: Input and output clip LEDs assist with gain setup.

Design & Installation

The PM1000X1BD uses a cast-aluminum heatsink and convection cooling in a compact 2.38 x 7.76 x 13.28-inch chassis. Its marine-focused construction includes a conformal-coated PCB, two-part epoxy circuit-board coating, and marine-grade stainless-steel hardware. A stealth top-mounted control panel keeps the primary adjustments accessible after installation.

Install the amplifier in a secure location with airflow around the heatsink and use 4 AWG power wiring with the specified 140A fuse, which is not included. Use speaker wire from 8 AWG to 18 AWG, set the low-pass crossover for the connected bass drivers, and verify the final speaker load is no lower than 1 ohm. For high-level integration, use the amplifier's compatible high-level input and Auto Turn-On function; an optional PLC2 remote level control may be added separately.
