The Rockford Fosgate P3D2-15 is a 15-inch passive car subwoofer designed for systems that need substantial low-frequency output from a single driver. Its dual 2-ohm voice coils provide wiring flexibility for compatible mono amplifiers. It is intended for custom sealed or vented enclosures rather than direct connection to a factory radio.

Rockford Fosgate uses a hybrid StampCast basket with integrated spider venting to support the motor structure and help manage heat. The design also includes a high-temperature voice coil with a spun-laced Nomex reinforcement collar, dual linear spiders, and embedded 16 AWG tinsel leads. Custom 10 AWG nickel-plated compression terminals support secure high-current speaker connections.

The P3D2-15 can be used in either a sealed or vented enclosure, depending on available space and the desired system tuning. The recommended sealed enclosure volume is 1.58 cubic feet, while the recommended vented enclosure volume is 2.66 cubic feet. A cast aluminum trim ring is included and can accommodate a compatible optional grille insert.

Its motor assembly uses a 96-ounce magnet, while the diamond-cut cast aluminum trim ring provides a finished mounting appearance. The driver is CEA-2031 compliant.

Plan for a 13.94-inch cutout diameter and 7.58-inch mounting depth, plus enclosure wall thickness and terminal clearance. Use a properly designed sealed or vented enclosure and select an amplifier that is stable at the impedance created by the voice-coil wiring. Rockford Fosgate recommends an active 80-100 Hz low-pass crossover at 12 dB per octave; a subsonic filter is recommended when using a vented enclosure.
