Rockford Fosgate M2-8H 8" Marine Horn Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M2-8H is a pair of 8-inch, two-way marine speakers designed for boats and powersports vehicles that need strong output in open, noisy environments. Each system combines an 8-inch woofer with an integrated 1-inch high-efficiency horn tweeter for broad full-range playback. White styling and integrated Color Optix RGB lighting help the speakers fit both audio and lighting upgrades.

These speakers are intended for installations where wind, engine noise, water, and distance can make conventional speakers difficult to hear. Their horn-loaded tweeter design focuses on clear high-frequency projection, while the 8-inch woofer provides greater radiating area than smaller speaker sizes. With a 4-ohm nominal impedance and 300-watt RMS power handling, they are suited to a properly matched external marine amplifier.

The M2-8H uses a 12 dB-per-octave crossover network concealed and sealed within the speaker basket. This integrated crossover manages the transition between the woofer and horn tweeter without requiring a separate crossover module. The design also keeps the installation cleaner and reduces the number of external components to mount.

Color Optix lighting is built into the speakers for coordinated RGB illumination. When used with the separately sold Rockford Fosgate PMX-RGB Color Optix controller, the lighting can be controlled through the RF Connect app. The included RGB harnesses support lighting integration, while the speaker itself provides dedicated RGB and speaker connection points.

For marine and motorsports use, the M2-8H combines UV-stable, corrosion-conscious materials with an IP67 rating and IPX6 water-intrusion protection. It can be paired with other Rockford Fosgate Color Optix speakers, subwoofers, and lighting accessories for a unified system. The package includes both removable sport grilles and stainless-steel grille inserts so the visible finish can be tailored to the installation.

Design & Installation

The M2-8H uses an injection-molded PA66 frame with 30% glass fill and UV inhibitors, a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, and a UV- and salt-fog-resistant TPE surround. Its aramid-fiber spider, gold-plated marine-grade brass terminals, vented motor with water-repelling mesh screen, and UV-stable Centrex plastic grille support demanding outdoor installations. The speaker also uses stainless-steel mounting hardware and includes interchangeable grille components.

Verify a 7.05-inch cutout diameter and at least 3.35 inches of mounting depth before installation; the overall speaker diameter is 9.07 inches. Use the included stainless mounting hardware, observe speaker polarity, and route wiring before securing the speakers in place. For Color Optix lighting, use the PMX-RGB controller or the prescribed fused 12-volt wiring method; Rockford Fosgate recommends at least 20-gauge wire for hardwired lighting connections.
