The Rockford Fosgate M1-6B is a pair of black 6-inch, 2-way coaxial marine speakers designed for boats and powersports applications. It provides a direct full-range speaker upgrade where durable construction and weather resistance matter alongside audio performance. The compact 6-inch format can suit installations with limited panel space while adding integrated RGB illumination.

Each speaker uses a 4-ohm design with 75 watts RMS and 300 watts peak power handling. A 1-inch balanced-dome tweeter is integrated into the grille, while the concealed crossover network helps divide frequencies between the woofer and tweeter. The stated 42 Hz to 22 kHz frequency response supports clear vocals, detailed upper frequencies, and useful midbass from a compact coaxial speaker.

The M1-6B is built for open-air environments exposed to sun, water spray, and changing weather. Its Element Ready construction includes an IPX6 water-intrusion rating, UV-stable ASA plastic frame and grille components, a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, and a Santoprene VAST surround. Marine-grade zinc nickel-plated brass terminals help maintain reliable speaker connections in demanding installations.

Color Optix RGB lighting lets these speakers become part of a coordinated illuminated audio system. The lighting system is compatible with a Rockford Fosgate Color Optix controller and the RF Connect app, with the PMX-RGB controller sold separately. Integrated Deutsch-style RGB and speaker receptacles support organized system wiring.

These speakers are suited to replacing existing round marine speakers or building a new boat, side-by-side, or other powersports audio system. They can be powered by a compatible 4-ohm head unit or external amplifier matched appropriately to their power rating. For a more complete upgrade, pair them with Color Optix-compatible speakers or subwoofers and a separately purchased lighting controller.

Design & Installation

The M1-6B uses a UV-stable ASA plastic frame and grille, a co-molded mineral-filled polypropylene cone, and a Santoprene VAST surround. Its sealed motor design and fully sealed integrated concealed crossover are intended for exposed marine and powersports environments. The black grille presentation provides a coordinated appearance for dark-colored panels and interiors.

Installation requires a 5.07-inch cutout and 2.52 inches of mounting depth behind the panel. Stainless-steel mounting hardware is included, and the speaker uses a six-hole mounting pattern. For RGB lighting, use the recommended Color Optix wiring arrangement or a PMX-RGB controller; when hardwiring lighting, Rockford Fosgate recommends at least 20-gauge wire and a fused 12-volt supply.
