Memphis MS60V 6.5" Oversized Convertible Speaker Set

The Memphis MS60V is a pair of oversized 6.5-inch convertible car speakers designed for vehicle audio upgrades where conventional coaxial speakers may not provide enough installation flexibility. It can operate with its tweeters mounted in the speaker centers as a coaxial set, or be reconfigured as a component system with the separately available MSCKIT. This gives installers a path to improve speaker placement without replacing the entire set.

These speakers are intended for listeners building a clearer, more capable front-stage or full-range vehicle system. Their 75-watt RMS and 150-watt peak power rating provides a useful match for appropriately powered aftermarket amplification. Each MS60V uses a carbon fiber woofer cone with a rubber surround and an aluminum dome tweeter. The lightweight cone material is designed to support responsive midrange and bass reproduction, while the aluminum tweeter handles upper-frequency detail. Sensitivity is rated at 89 dB, and the speakers use a 4-ohm impedance design.

The defining feature is the convertible architecture. In its standard configuration, the tweeter is coaxially mounted and can be aimed for installation flexibility. With the optional MSCKIT, the tweeter can be removed, a phase plug installed in the woofer, and the tweeter mounted separately in flush, surface, or angled surface locations.

External passive crossovers are included to route signal to the woofer and tweeter. The crossover provides a selectable 0 dB or -3 dB tweeter level setting, allowing the high-frequency output to be adjusted for the vehicle and listening position. Memphis also includes its MClip mounting approach, which supports crossover placement at the speaker magnet or elsewhere in the installation.

Design & Installation

The MS60V combines a carbon fiber cone, rubber surround, aluminum dome tweeter, and 10-ounce magnet in a 6.5-inch oversized speaker platform. Protective grilles are included. The external crossover uses a compact form factor and offers 0 dB and -3 dB tweeter output settings.

Allow for the manufacturer-listed 2.48-inch mounting depth and verify that the vehicle has room for the oversized frame and crossover placement. The speakers install as coaxials out of the box; separate tweeter mounting requires the optional MSCKIT, which supplies phase plugs and surface and flush mounting cups. Use the included crossover wiring scheme and observe polarity when connecting the woofer, tweeter, and amplifier or head-unit output.
