Kenwood KFC-1673MRWL 6.5" 2-Way Marine Speakers

The Kenwood KFC-1673MRWL is a pair of 6.5-inch, 2-way coaxial marine speakers with integrated RGB illumination and white grilles. They are designed for boat and motorsports installations where conventional interior speakers may be exposed to moisture and sunlight. The pair combines full-range audio reproduction with configurable lighting controlled by an included RF remote.

With a 75-watt RMS rating, 260-watt peak input rating, and 4-ohm impedance, these speakers are suited to appropriately matched marine or vehicle audio systems. Their specified 65 Hz to 21 kHz frequency response supports bass, midrange, and high-frequency content from a compact coaxial design. An 86 dB sensitivity rating provides a defined reference for amplifier matching and system planning.

The speaker uses a 6.5-inch water-resistant PP mica woofer cone, a rubber surround, and a 1/2-inch PEI balanced-dome tweeter. The woofer uses a ferrite magnet, while the tweeter uses a neodymium magnet. A rubber frame cushion is used to help limit water intrusion from the rear side of the woofer.

For marine-facing durability, the mounted speaker is rated IPX5, and the white grille and cone are UV resistant. Kenwood also specifies a water-resistant coating on the LED circuit board. These measures make the KFC-1673MRWL appropriate for exposed audio locations when installed according to the supplied instructions.

Integrated RGB LEDs provide 21 static colors and 21 dynamic lighting modes, with eight brightness settings and seven speed settings. The included RF remote controls illumination functions, and up to six pairs can be linked and synchronized. This makes the speakers a practical choice for adding coordinated audio and accent lighting to a marine or powersports system.

Design & Installation

The KFC-1673MRWL uses a PP mica woofer cone, rubber surround, ABS resin-molded basket, rubber frame cushion, PEI balanced-dome tweeter, and white UV-resistant grille. The speaker pair is built around a 6.5-inch coaxial format, placing the tweeter with the woofer for a compact installation. Its installed dimensions include a 5-11/16-inch cutout requirement and 2-9/16-inch mounting depth.

Use separate speaker wiring for each channel and match the pair with a compatible 4-ohm audio system. Speaker wire is not included; Kenwood recommends 12- to 22-AWG speaker cable terminated with female spade connectors. The LED controller requires 12V DC power and ground; when wired directly to a battery, install a 3A fuse within 90 mm (3-9/16 inches) of the battery, and use the supplied link cable and heat-shrink tubes to connect and protect the lighting system.
