Kenwood KFC-1673MRBL 6.5" RGB Marine Speakers

The Kenwood KFC-1673MRBL is a pair of 6.5-inch, 2-way coaxial marine and motorsports speakers with black grilles and integrated RGB illumination. It is designed for boat, UTV, ATV, and vehicle installations where conventional speakers may be exposed to moisture, sunlight, and outdoor conditions. The built-in lighting adds adjustable visual accenting without requiring separate illuminated speaker rings.

These speakers use a water-resistant polypropylene mica woofer cone and a 1/2-inch PEI balanced-dome tweeter to cover bass, midrange, and treble from a single coaxial assembly. With a 65 Hz to 21 kHz frequency response and 86 dB sensitivity, they are suited to full-range outdoor audio systems. Each pair is rated for 75 watts RMS and 260 watts peak power handling.

The KFC-1673MRBL uses an RF wireless remote to control its RGB lighting system. It provides 21 selectable colors, 21 lighting modes, eight brightness steps, and seven speed steps for dynamic effects. The lighting system also includes a last-memory function that recalls its prior operating state after it is turned on.

Marine-oriented construction includes IPX5 water resistance for the mounted speaker, UV-resistant grilles and cone, a rubber surround, a rubber frame cushion, and stainless-steel mounting hardware. The speaker basket is resin-molded ABS, while the woofer uses a ferrite magnet and the tweeter uses a neodymium magnet. A water-resistant cushion helps reduce water intrusion from the rear side of the woofer.

The speakers can be used as a direct replacement where a compatible 6.5-inch mounting location is available, or as part of a new marine or powersports audio system. Their 4-ohm impedance makes them compatible with appropriately matched 4-ohm speaker outputs or amplifier channels. Up to six pairs can be linked and synchronized for coordinated RGB lighting across a larger installation.

Design & Installation

The KFC-1673MRBL features black fixed grilles, a resin-molded ABS basket, a PP mica woofer cone, rubber surround, and a PEI balanced-dome tweeter. Its hardware includes SUS304 stainless-steel screws and mounting clips, while the LED circuit board has a water-resistant coating. The tweeter is integrated into the grille assembly rather than mounted on a pole piece through the woofer cone.

Verify a 5-11/16-inch circular cutout and at least 2-9/16 inches of mounting depth before installation. Speaker wire is not included; Kenwood recommends 12-22 AWG speaker wire terminated with female spade connectors. The RGB controller requires a 12V DC boat or vehicle electrical system, and a 3A fuse is required when its positive lead is connected directly to the battery.
