JBL STAGE3 68CF 6.5" 2-Way Component Speaker System

The JBL STAGE3 68CF is a 6.5-inch, two-way component speaker system for replacing factory car speakers with separate woofers and tweeters. Its component layout allows the tweeters to be positioned independently from the woofers for a more adaptable installation. This set is intended for vehicle audio upgrades where clearer high frequencies and dedicated crossover networks are desired.

Each system includes two 6.5-inch woofers and two 0.75-inch edge-driven silk dome tweeters. The separate tweeters are designed to provide broad, smooth high-frequency response, while the woofers handle the lower and midrange portions of the system's stated 55Hz–20kHz frequency response. Included crossover boxes divide the signal between the woofer and tweeter sections.

The STAGE3 68CF is rated for 95 watts RMS and 760 watts peak power handling, with a 4-ohm nominal impedance. Its 91dB sensitivity rating is measured at 2.83V. The true 4-ohm design is intended for use with compatible factory head units or aftermarket amplifiers.

JBL uses its Plus One woofer cone architecture to increase cone surface area relative to conventional designs in the same class. The laser-etched woofer cone is reinforced with 10% glass fiber and has a forged-carbon-fiber-style visual texture. This construction supports the system's low-frequency output while maintaining the separate-component format.

This version is supplied without speaker grilles, making it suited to factory locations that retain original door or panel grilles. It includes flush-mount adapters and locking nuts for the tweeters, plus foam gaskets and mounting hardware for the woofers. Check the available mounting depth, cutout size, wiring path, and vehicle-specific fitment before installation.

Design & Installation

The STAGE3 68CF uses laser-etched woofer cones with 10% glass-fiber reinforcement and edge-driven silk dome tweeters. JBL also specifies post-consumer recycled plastic materials, PVC-free wiring, and soy-based inks in the packaging. The system is finished in black and is supplied without woofer grilles.

Mount the 6.5-inch woofers in compatible factory or custom locations, using the included foam gaskets and screws where appropriate. The 0.75-inch tweeters include threaded flush-mount adapters and plastic locking nuts, while the crossover boxes must be placed where they remain secure and protected. Verify vehicle fitment, the 5.03-inch cutout requirement, 1.91-inch top-mount depth, and proper polarity before final assembly.
