The JBL CLUB 102SL is a 10-inch shallow-mount car subwoofer designed for systems where mounting depth is limited. It adds dedicated low-frequency output without requiring the depth of a conventional full-size subwoofer. Its 3-1/4-inch mounting depth helps it suit compact enclosures and space-conscious vehicle installations.

This subwoofer is intended for listeners building or upgrading a powered car audio bass system with an external amplifier. It handles 350 watts RMS and 1,050 watts peak, giving installers a clear continuous-power target when matching an amplifier. The selectable impedance switch supports either a 2-ohm or 4-ohm nominal load to better match compatible amplifier configurations.

An aluminum woofer cone is used to maintain cone shape through its operating range. JBL pairs it with a high-roll rubber surround that supports cone movement and helps maximize usable cone area. The result is a focused bass foundation for music systems that need low-end reinforcement from a shallow driver.

The CLUB 102SL uses JBL SSI™ Selectable Smart Impedance technology, with a switch that selects 2-ohm or 4-ohm operation. This provides system-planning flexibility without changing the subwoofer. A vented basket is incorporated to help manage voice-coil heat during higher-output use.

For enclosure-based installations, JBL provides guidance for both sealed and vented boxes. A 0.53 ft³ enclosure is specified for either format, while the vented design adds a 2.76-inch diameter, 9.84-inch long port tuned to 43.4 Hz. This makes the CLUB 102SL a practical option for a custom bass upgrade where amplifier load, enclosure space, and mounting depth all matter.

Design & Installation

The CLUB 102SL combines an aluminum driver cone, high-roll rubber surround, inverted dust cap, and vented basket structure. Its 2-inch voice coil and 10-inch driver are housed in a shallow-mount format. The surround is shaped to accept the trim ring and provide a clean installed appearance.

Use a compatible external amplifier and set the SSI™ switch for its appropriate 2-ohm or 4-ohm load. The subwoofer requires a 9-inch cutout and 3-1/4 inches of mounting depth; verify clearance behind the mounting surface before cutting. JBL specifies a 0.53 ft³ sealed box or a 0.53 ft³ vented box with the stated port dimensions, and the package includes an EVA foam gasket for installation.
