The Hertz MP165P-3 is a 6.5-inch component woofer designed to bring focused mid-bass performance to a custom car audio system. It is intended for installations where a separate woofer, tweeter, and crossover—or an active DSP-based setup—are used instead of a coaxial speaker. Its 3-ohm nominal impedance helps compatible amplifiers deliver more output than a comparable 4-ohm driver.

A pressed-pulp cone reinforced with cotton fibers is formed in Hertz's exponential V-cone profile. The profile is designed to support linear midrange behavior and broader off-axis dispersion, which is useful in door-mounted automotive installations. Its Boundary Free rubber surround is engineered to support efficient mid-bass output and extended cone travel.

The woofer is built on a low-depth aluminum-alloy basket that is designed to remain acoustically open behind the cone. With a 141 mm cutout requirement and 64 mm mounting depth, fitment should be checked against the vehicle door or speaker enclosure before purchase. It can be used as part of a Hertz Mille Pro component system or in a carefully tuned active system with compatible amplification and crossover settings.

Confirm that the vehicle or enclosure provides a 141 mm mounting cutout and at least 64 mm of mounting depth, while also allowing clearance for the 74.5 mm overall depth dimension. Use a compatible amplifier and crossover or DSP to limit low-frequency excursion and set an appropriate upper crossover point for the companion tweeter or midrange.
