The Hertz HEX6-5S-LD-G is a 6.5-inch two-way marine coaxial speaker set designed for boat audio systems that need weather-resistant sound and integrated RGB illumination. Its 4-ohm design works with compatible marine receivers and amplifiers, while the coaxial layout combines the woofer and tweeter in one mounting location. The SPORT-style grille gives the speaker a distinct appearance while protecting the driver assembly.

This set is intended for marine installations where conventional car speakers may not provide suitable protection from moisture, UV exposure, and salt fog. Hertz specifies IP65 protection along with ASTM-D4329 UV-resistance and ASTM-B117 salt-fog testing standards. It is suitable for properly protected in-wall or panel-mounted locations, but it is not intended for submersion.

Each speaker is rated for 50 watts continuous power handling and 100 watts peak power handling. The 50 Hz to 23 kHz frequency response covers bass, midrange, and treble for a full-range coaxial installation. An 88 dB sensitivity rating and 4-ohm impedance support use with appropriately matched marine amplification.

The woofer uses a polypropylene cone with UV inhibitors and a 25 mm voice coil designed for infinite-baffle applications. Its PEI dome tweeter uses a neodymium motor and a 13 mm voice coil, while the woofer uses a high-density ferrite magnet. A sealed built-in crossover includes resettable solid-state tweeter protection to help protect the high-frequency driver during overload conditions.

Integrated RGB LEDs provide selectable accent lighting through the grille assembly. The lighting circuit uses switched 12 VDC power, with a specified maximum supply of 12.5 VDC and a 100 mA fuse requirement per speaker. The shallow 60.5 mm mounting depth and 155 mm cutout requirement make this set a practical option for compatible marine speaker openings.

Design & Installation

The HEX6-5S-LD-G uses a sound-transparent mesh SPORT grille with a twist-and-lock retention system. Its polypropylene woofer cone includes UV inhibitors, while silicone-insulated lead wires and nickel-plated terminals are intended to support long-term marine installation. The grille-mounted RGB lighting is permanently attached to the grille assembly and should not be operated without it.

Verify the available mounting depth, 155 mm cutout diameter, and 171 mm outside diameter before cutting an installation panel. Connect the speaker channels to a compatible 4-ohm marine receiver or amplifier, and route the LED circuit separately to switched 12 VDC with 100 mA protection per speaker. For RGB lighting, use a suitable control method and keep LED supply voltage at or below 12.5 VDC.
