The Fender Telepath™ Wireless System is a digital instrument wireless set for moving freely between a guitar or bass and an amplifier, pedalboard, or compatible audio input. It replaces a conventional instrument cable with a compact transmitter and receiver pair. The system is intended for players who want a cable-free setup for practice, rehearsals, recording, or live performance.
Telepath operates in the 5.8GHz band and provides up to 70 feet of stated transmission range. Its specified 4ms low latency helps retain a direct playing response while performing. The digital wireless design is built to carry the full-frequency signal from an instrument without relying on the crowded 2.4GHz band.
The transmitter accommodates active and passive instruments through its dedicated Active/Passive switch. This makes the system suitable for electric guitars, basses, and acoustic-electric instruments with differing output levels. Built-in cable tone simulation is designed to preserve the familiar tonal feel associated with a traditional instrument cable.
Setup is straightforward: connect the black transmitter to the instrument output and the Mystic Ice Blue receiver to an amplifier, pedalboard, or audio interface input. The units auto-pair after power-up, while manual sync is available when needed. Four Telepath systems can operate concurrently, supporting multi-unit use and quicker instrument changes.
Both units use rechargeable internal batteries and charge through USB-C. Fender specifies up to eight hours of operation from a two-hour charge. For a player upgrading from a wired instrument connection, Telepath can fit into an existing rig without changing the amplifier or effects chain.
Key Features
- 5.8GHz Digital Transmission: Uses a wireless band separate from common 2.4GHz devices.
- 70-Foot Range: Supports cable-free playing across a stated range of up to 70 feet.
- 4ms Low Latency: Helps maintain a responsive feel while playing.
- Active/Passive Support: Transmitter switch accommodates instruments with different output levels.
- Multi-Unit Pairing: Supports up to four concurrent Telepath systems.
- Rechargeable USB-C Power: Provides up to eight hours of stated use per charge.
Design & Installation
The system uses molded ABS housings, with a black transmitter and Mystic Ice Blue receiver. Its articulating 1/4-inch plug swivels up to 270 degrees to better fit varied instrument jack locations. LED indicators provide battery and connection-status feedback, while tactile plug icons help identify the transmitter and receiver in low light.
Plug the receiver into the input of a guitar or bass amplifier, pedalboard, or compatible audio interface, then plug the transmitter into the instrument output. Set the transmitter's Active/Passive switch for the instrument being used, power on both units, and allow them to auto-pair. Charge the units through their USB-C ports using the included dual USB-C cable before use.
