Audison APK165P 6.5" 2-Way Component Speaker System

The Audison APK165P is a 6.5-inch, 2-way component speaker system for upgrading front-stage sound in compatible vehicle locations. It pairs separate AP 6.5P woofers with AP 1P tweeters and dedicated passive crossover modules. The system is designed for installations where the woofer and tweeter are mounted separately rather than in a single coaxial speaker location.

With a 4-ohm nominal impedance, 115-watt continuous power handling, and 345-watt peak power handling, this system is suited to aftermarket audio systems using a compatible head unit or external amplifier. Its 50 Hz to 24 kHz stated system frequency response covers bass and midrange from the door woofer through high frequencies from the separate tweeter. The 92.5 dB SPL system sensitivity rating supports efficient output from properly matched equipment.

The AP 6.5P woofer uses a water-repellent treated paper cone and a 32 mm CCAW voice coil. Its 5.6 mm Xmax specification and compact basket are intended to support factory-style door mounting locations. The AP 1P tweeter uses a 29 mm Tetolon fibre dome with a 25 mm CCAW voice coil.

Audison's AIF, or Any Install Faceplate, system gives the AP 1P tweeter interchangeable mounting options. Three mounting accessories are supplied to support different installation approaches, helping accommodate common factory tweeter locations and custom placements. The tweeter's double-neodymium magnetic assembly and FEM-optimized dome profile are engineered for high-frequency extension and off-axis dispersion.

Separate compact crossover modules divide the signal between the woofer and tweeter. The woofer low-pass filter is specified at 4 kHz with a 6 dB/octave slope, while the tweeter high-pass filter is 4 kHz with a 12 dB/octave slope. This makes the APK165P a practical component set for a front-speaker upgrade built around compatible 4-ohm amplification and proper vehicle-specific mounting hardware.

Design & Installation

The AP 6.5P woofer combines a treated paper cone, 32 mm CCAW voice coil, compact basket, and a 100 x 40 x 18 mm magnetic assembly. The AP 1P tweeter uses a Tetolon fibre dome, 25 mm CCAW voice coil, and double-neodymium magnetic assembly. The system also provides a selectable tweeter level setting of 0 dB or +3 dB at the crossover.

Confirm door opening diameter, mounting depth, and clearance behind the panel before installation; the AP 6.5P lists a 141 mm cutout diameter and 66.5 mm mounting depth. Route each channel through its assigned passive crossover rather than connecting the tweeter directly to a full-range amplifier output. Secure all components firmly, use the appropriate faceplate and mounting accessory for the tweeter location, and confirm polarity before reassembling vehicle trim.
