The Audison APK 165 Ω2 is a 6.5-inch, two-way component speaker system for vehicle audio upgrades. It combines AP 6.5 Ω2 woofers, AP 1 tweeters, dedicated passive crossovers, and grilles. The separate woofer and tweeter components allow placement that better suits factory speaker locations than a single coaxial speaker.

This system uses a 2-ohm nominal impedance and is intended for amplifiers that are stable at a 2-ohm speaker load. It is rated for 100 watts continuous power handling and 300 watts peak power. Confirm amplifier load capability and available installation space before choosing this version.

The APK 165 Ω2 has a specified frequency response of 50 Hz to 20 kHz and a 95 dB sensitivity rating. Its 75 Hz woofer resonance frequency and 2.8 mm maximum linear excursion support useful low-frequency output within a properly installed door or factory speaker location. A separate tweeter is used to cover upper frequencies instead of asking the woofer to reproduce the full range.

The AP 6.5 Ω2 woofer uses a water-repellent treated paper cone and a TPU surround with Audison's Triple Wave profile. Its 25 mm voice coil has a 10 mm winding height, while the compact basket is finished with an abrasion- and scratch-resistant coating. The AP 1 tweeter incorporates an acoustic lens intended to help balance response in the 10 kHz to 13 kHz region when used behind restrictive factory grilles.

Two separate passive crossovers divide the signal between the woofer and tweeter. The APCX WF Ω2 woofer network uses a low-loss inductor, while the APCX TW Ω2 tweeter network provides selectable Hi-Contour operation. Integrated crossover leads terminate in polarity-differentiated fast-on connectors to support OEM-style speaker replacement wiring.

Design & Installation

The woofer uses a 165 mm frame with a 127 mm cone diameter, a 25 mm voice coil, and an 85 x 32 x 15 mm magnet. Its TPU Triple Wave surround is designed for linear excursion, while the compact basket is coated for abrasion and scratch resistance. The 26 mm AP 1 tweeter uses a 20 mm voice coil and an acoustic lens, and protective grilles are included.

Install the woofers only where the vehicle provides adequate mounting depth and clearance, and mount the tweeters securely behind a protective grille. Route the amplifier signal first to the supplied APCX WF Ω2 and APCX TW Ω2 passive networks, then connect each network to its matching driver using the integrated fast-on leads. Use an amplifier that is explicitly rated for 2-ohm operation, observe polarity, and select the tweeter contour setting according to the mounting position and factory-grille presence.
