The Zoom MS-80IR+ is a compact guitar amp and cabinet modeler pedal designed for direct playing, silent practice, recording, and pedalboard use. It combines amp/cabinet modeling, ambience processing, essential utility effects, a chromatic tuner, and USB audio in one unit. This gives guitarists a practical way to build finished guitar tones without requiring a miked speaker cabinet.

It is well suited to players who want a portable direct-to-PA, powered-monitor, headphone, or computer-recording setup. Stereo inputs support active and passive instruments, while the L/MONO and R outputs accommodate mono or stereo signal paths. Up to 80 user patch memories make it easier to organize sounds for home practice, rehearsals, sessions, and live sets.

The MS-80IR+ includes 23 guitar amp/cabinet models, including modeled classic-style amplifiers and Zoom original designs. Its Multi-Layer IR approach combines three impulse responses captured at different volumes to reproduce changing amp and cabinet character. The result is a flexible modeled platform that can be adjusted from the pedal through its display, encoder controls, and foot-operated switches.

Five studio ambience options and 12 additional effects provide tools for shaping a complete tone within a patch. Noise gates, EQs, and delays can be paired with one amp model and one studio ambience or IR at a time. A chromatic tuner with alternate and flat-tuning support helps keep the setup self-contained.

The MS-80IR+ can also serve as a 2-in/2-out USB audio interface for a computer or compatible mobile device. It can send processed stereo audio for recording while receiving playback for practicing along with tracks. Custom cabinet impulse responses can be loaded through Zoom software, making the pedal useful as a foundation for a compact direct guitar system.

Key Features

  • 23 Amp/Cabinet Models: Provides a broad selection of guitar amp and cabinet voices in one compact pedal.
  • Multi-Layer IR Technology: Combines three volume-based impulse responses for modeled amp and cabinet behavior.
  • Custom IR Loading: Supports loading up to 80 third-party impulse responses for cabinet personalization.
  • 80 User Patches: Stores complete amp, ambience, and effect combinations for quick recall.
  • 2-In/2-Out USB Audio: Enables stereo recording and playback through a USB-C connection.
  • Stereo And Headphone Outputs: Supports stereo rigs, mono connections, powered monitors, and headphones.

Design & Installation

The MS-80IR+ uses a compact stompbox-style layout with a 160 × 128 dot-matrix LCD, four encoder knobs, four Cross Key switches, and a main footswitch. Zoom does not publish an enclosure-material specification. Its interface is designed to show effect names and parameter values while allowing patch and effect navigation from the pedal.

Connect a guitar or another pedal to the L/MONO input for mono use, or use both L and R inputs for stereo operation. Connect powered monitors, a PA, an amplifier, or headphones to the outputs as appropriate; use the L/MONO output for mono connections. Power is available from two AA batteries, a specified 9V DC center-negative ZOOM AD-16 adapter, or supported USB bus power through the USB-C port.
