VOXX ACA800 License Plate Backup Camera

The VOXX ACA800 is a wired backup camera designed to add a rear-facing view to vehicles with a compatible display or receiver. It mounts at the license plate or on a surface, helping drivers see behind the vehicle while reversing. Its parking grid overlay provides a visual reference when maneuvering into tighter spaces.

This camera is suited to cars, trucks, and vans that need an aftermarket camera solution without replacing the vehicle exterior with a large camera housing. A 150-degree viewing angle broadens the visible area behind the vehicle. High-sensitivity optics are designed to maintain a useful image in lower-light conditions.

The ACA800 uses a color CMOS camera and outputs video through the included extension cable with a composite RCA connection. This makes it appropriate for many aftermarket multimedia receivers and monitors equipped with an RCA camera-video input. It is a wired system, so the camera and display connection is intended to be routed through the vehicle.

For flexible placement, the camera supports a standard license-plate-bracket installation as well as installation with its included surface-mount bracket. An optional mirrored image mode allows the camera to be configured for front or rear viewing use. Parking guide lines can also be disabled when a clean camera image is preferred.

The sealed camera housing carries an IP67 rating for protection against dust and temporary immersion in water. It is designed to operate from the vehicle's 12-volt electrical system and is commonly powered from the reverse-lamp circuit for automatic activation in reverse. The included long video extension cable supports routing from the rear mounting location to an in-dash monitor.

Design & Installation

The ACA800 uses a compact black camera housing with a sealed IP67 construction for exterior placement. Its mounting hardware supports placement above or below a license plate, while the separate surface bracket offers another mounting approach. The camera is supplied with a long video extension cable and mounting hardware for a complete basic installation package.

For typical backup-camera operation, connect the camera's red power lead to the positive reverse-lamp circuit and the black lead to vehicle ground, then route the video cable to a compatible monitor or receiver. Use the supplied license-plate bracket when retaining a centered rear view, or use the surface bracket where a plate-mounted installation is not suitable. Route wiring away from moving parts, sharp edges, heat sources, and vehicle safety equipment.
