Mogami GOLD STUDIO-50 50' XLR Microphone Cable $186.95
Bundle total: $845.95

The Shure KSM32C/HM is a cardioid condenser microphone stage kit designed for detailed vocal, instrument, overhead, and ensemble recording. Its focused pickup pattern helps reduce unwanted room sound and nearby-source bleed when recording in less-than-perfect acoustic spaces. The included hard mount, windscreen, carrying case, and threaded adapter make it a practical package for studio and stage-oriented setups.

Built around a Shure-designed ¾-inch embossed Mylar diaphragm capsule, the KSM32C is voiced for a smooth and even response rather than pronounced tonal emphasis. It delivers extended low-frequency performance associated with larger capsules while retaining a compact physical format. This makes it suited to sources where natural tone, transient detail, and controlled placement matter.

The cardioid pattern provides up to 37 dB of rear rejection at 180 degrees, helping keep reflections and surrounding instruments out of the microphone signal. With an 11 dBA typical self-noise specification and 83 dB signal-to-noise ratio, it is equipped for recording quieter and more detailed material. Its neutral response also gives engineers a flexible starting point for later EQ and dynamics processing.

A selectable 15 dB pad expands the microphone's ability to work with high-SPL sources such as drums, guitar amplifiers, horns, and percussion. The three-position low-frequency filter provides flat response, a 115 Hz rolloff, or an 80 Hz cutoff to help manage proximity effect, vibration, and low-frequency buildup. These controls allow the microphone to adapt to different sources without adding external inline attenuation.

The KSM32C/HM connects through a balanced three-pin XLR output and requires standard 48 V phantom power. Its lightweight machined anodized aluminum housing is intended for dependable placement on boom stands and mic stands. It is a useful upgrade for creators and engineers who need a dedicated large-diaphragm-style condenser sound with controlled off-axis behavior in a compact microphone.

Key Features

  • ¾-Inch Electret Capsule: Embossed Mylar diaphragm supports smooth, detailed capture.
  • Cardioid Pickup Pattern: Focuses on the source and reduces rearward sound.
  • Low Self-Noise: 11 dBA typical self-noise supports detailed recording.
  • 15 dB Pad: Handles louder sources with increased headroom.
  • Three-Position Low Cut: Helps manage rumble, vibration, and proximity effect.
  • Stage Kit Accessories: Includes hard mount, windscreen, case, and adapter.

Design & Installation

The KSM32C uses a machined, anodized aluminum-alloy housing with a precision-machined steel grille. Its compact all-metal construction is lightweight at 265 g while providing a durable format for studio and live-sound use. The capsule uses a gold-layered design behind the grille, and the microphone body includes accessible pad and frequency-response switches.

Connect the microphone's male XLR output to a balanced XLR microphone input on a mixer, audio interface, or preamp that supplies 48 V phantom power. Mount it with the included swivel-mount mic clamp, then use the flat setting for full-range capture or select one of the low-frequency filters when controlling rumble or proximity effect is useful. The included flocked foam windscreen can help reduce light wind and breath noise, while the zippered case supports protected transport and storage.
