The sE Electronics sE8 Omni(P) is a factory-matched pair of small-diaphragm omnidirectional condenser microphones for detailed stereo recording. The matched-pair selection process helps maintain reliable left-to-right consistency when recording in stereo.

Each microphone uses a hand-crafted 1/2-inch true-condenser capsule with an ultra-thin gold-sputtered diaphragm. Its omnidirectional pickup pattern captures sound naturally around the microphone, making it well suited to sources where a broad, open perspective is useful. The transformerless, Class-A electronic design is intended to provide a clean signal with low self-noise and strong transient detail.

The sE8 omni covers a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range and has a 20 mV/Pa sensitivity rating. With a 15 dB equivalent noise level and a 79 dB signal-to-noise ratio, it is built for applications where subtle detail and room information matter. Its smooth, balanced response supports close recording as well as more distant stereo and ambient placement.

Two switchable attenuation pads, at 10 dB and 20 dB, let the microphones accommodate louder sound sources. Two selectable low-cut filters at 80 Hz and 160 Hz help reduce low-frequency rumble, footfall noise, or excess bass in close placements. These controls make the pair adaptable for instruments, drum overheads, percussion, piano, choir, strings, and room-miking duties.

The sE8 Omni(P) pair connects through standard 3-pin XLR outputs and requires 48V phantom power from a compatible microphone preamp, mixer, recorder, or audio interface. It includes stereo-recording accessories for mounting and transport, while the removable capsule system supports expansion with the separately available sE8 cardioid capsule pair. Design & Installation

Each microphone has an all-metal housing, a gold-plated XLR connector, and a compact pencil-style form factor. The body measures 23 mm in diameter and 120 mm long, helping it fit easily into tight instrument-miking positions. The included metal case, windscreens, mic clips, thread adapters, and stereo mounting bar support protected transport and organized setup.

Connect each microphone to a balanced XLR microphone input that provides 48V phantom power, then use the included clips on compatible microphone stands or the included stereo bar. For stereo work, position both microphones symmetrically and use matched input gain settings on the recording device. Select the pad or low-cut setting only when the source level or low-frequency content calls for it.
