The Rockford Fosgate P1-2X10 is a loaded, ported enclosure designed to add dedicated low-frequency output to a car audio system without requiring a custom subwoofer box. It combines two 10-inch Punch P1 subwoofers in a preassembled vented cabinet. This is a practical option for listeners who want a straightforward bass upgrade with a single enclosure connection point.

The enclosure is internally wired for a 2-ohm nominal load and handles 500 watts RMS total. Its two P1S4-10 single-voice-coil woofers share the system power rating at 250 watts RMS each. Match it with a mono amplifier that is stable at 2 ohms and appropriately rated for the enclosure's recommended 250-500 watts RMS range.

A ported enclosure is intended to support strong bass output and low-frequency extension while using a ready-made cabinet. The P1-2X10 uses a front-firing tuned port with a high-flow, low-noise design. This makes it well suited to vehicles where a conventional rectangular enclosure can be secured in the cargo area.

Each P1 subwoofer uses a Kevlar-reinforced paper-pulp cone, high-density NBR surround, 2-inch voice coil, and vented motor structure. These construction details support controlled cone movement and thermal management during sustained listening. The enclosure's internally wired configuration eliminates the need to wire the two woofers together externally.

The cabinet is built from 5/8-inch MDF and finished in high-density black carpet for a durable, integrated appearance. High-current binding posts provide the amplifier connection, with red for positive and black for negative. The P1-2X10 is a complete loaded-subwoofer solution, but it still requires a compatible external amplifier, amplifier wiring, and installation hardware.

Design & Installation

The P1-2X10 uses a rectangular, hatchback-style ported cabinet constructed from 5/8-inch MDF and covered in high-density black carpet. Its front-firing port is designed for high airflow with reduced port noise, while the two Punch P1 woofers use Kevlar-reinforced paper-pulp cones, high-density NBR surrounds, and vented motor assemblies. A single terminal cup with high-current binding posts provides the external connection.

Install the enclosure in a secure location with adequate clearance for its 13.125-inch height, 31.125-inch width, and 15.125-inch depth. Connect the amplifier's positive speaker output to the enclosure's red terminal and negative output to the black terminal, using 16- to 12-AWG speaker wire with approximately 5/8 inch of insulation removed. Disconnect the vehicle battery negative terminal before installation, and use an external amplifier rated for a 2-ohm load.
