Rockford Fosgate MX-CAM Motorsports Backup Camera

The Rockford Fosgate MX-CAM is a compact motorsports camera designed to add a live video view to compatible side-by-side audio systems. It provides a color image for backing up, monitoring obstacles, or viewing terrain around the vehicle. Its compact eyeball-style format is intended for installations where a dedicated camera solution is needed without adding a conventional automotive backup-camera assembly.

Built for off-road applications, the MX-CAM is suited to Polaris RZR, Can-Am Maverick X3, and select Polaris Ranger installations when paired with the appropriate vehicle-specific mounting kit. The camera uses a 1/4-inch CMOS sensor and produces a 680 x 488 composite video signal. A 120-degree horizontal viewing angle helps provide a broad view behind or ahead of the vehicle.

The camera supports either mirrored or normal image orientation, allowing it to be configured for rear-facing or forward-facing use. This makes it practical for a backup view as well as trail and rock-crawling visibility. The mirror option is selected through the camera's mirror-option wire.

Rockford Fosgate's Element Ready design is intended for the outdoor exposure associated with motorsports use. The camera is specified for operation from -30 to +70 degrees Celsius and uses a 12V electrical system. Its compact 19 mm cutout requirement supports discreet placement in a compatible vehicle-specific mount.

The MX-CAM is designed to integrate with Rockford Fosgate PMX-3 and PMX-8 source-unit systems through the applicable installation kit and harness. It can also work with a source unit that has a composite video input, subject to proper triggering and installation. For vehicle-specific fitment and plug-and-play wiring, select the separately sold MX-CAM-RZR14, MX-CAM-X317, or MX-CAM-RNGR18 mounting kit as applicable.

Design & Installation

The MX-CAM uses a compact eyeball-camera design with a 19 mm cutout diameter and an 11-inch pigtail. Its Element Ready construction is intended to withstand outdoor use in motorsports environments, while the integrated orientation mark helps identify the correct top position during mounting. The camera's small format supports clean integration into the appropriate vehicle-specific bracket or location.

A separately sold vehicle-specific installation kit is required for intended plug-and-play installation on supported Polaris and Can-Am models. These kits supply the related mount, main harness, and vehicle-specific connections; connect the harness video lead to the source unit's video input and the trigger lead as required by the system.
