Rockford Fosgate M1-6 6" Color Optix Marine Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M1-6 is a pair of white 6-inch, 2-way coaxial marine speakers designed for boats and powersports installations that need full-range sound and integrated RGB lighting. Their 4-ohm design makes them suitable for connection to compatible marine or motorsports audio systems. The speakers are sold as a pair and include grilles and stainless-steel mounting hardware.

With 75 watts RMS and 300 watts peak power handling, the M1-6 is intended for systems that need more output capability than basic factory-style speakers. Its 42 Hz to 22 kHz frequency response covers bass, midrange, and treble in one coaxial speaker assembly. A grille-integrated 1-inch balanced-dome tweeter handles high frequencies without requiring a separate tweeter mount.

The speaker uses a co-molded surround and mineral-filled polypropylene cone body, along with a linear synthetic-fiber-blend spider. A 1-inch high-temperature Kapton woofer voice-coil former supports the driver assembly. The integrated concealed crossover network uses a 6 dB/octave high-pass section for the tweeter.

For illuminated installations, the M1-6 includes Color Optix RGB lighting with multiplexed RGB input and ultra-bright tri-color surface-mount LEDs. The lighting is designed to work with a Rockford Fosgate Color Optix controller and the RF Connect app. A compatible PMX-RGB controller is required for app-based lighting control and is sold separately.

Element Ready construction and an IP67 rating support use in exposed marine and powersports environments. Integrated Deutsch and Amphenol connectors are used for the speaker's Color Optix system compatibility. The M1-6 can be used as a standalone speaker upgrade or paired with other Rockford Fosgate Color Optix speakers and subwoofers for a coordinated audio-and-lighting system.

Design & Installation

The M1-6 uses a white grille and trim-ring design with a co-molded surround, mineral-filled polypropylene cone body, linear synthetic-fiber-blend spider, and grille-integrated LCP balanced-dome tweeter. Its RGB LEDs use flat-mold lenses with optically clear, UV-stable encapsulation. Zinc nickel-plated marine-grade brass connection terminals are specified for the speaker connections.

Confirm the 5.07-inch cutout diameter and 2.52-inch mounting-depth requirement before installation. The speakers use six mounting points at 60-degree spacing, and the included stainless-steel hardware is intended for mounting. For Color Optix lighting, use a compatible PMX-RGB controller or follow Rockford Fosgate's fused hardwiring guidance; use at least 20 AWG wire for lighting hardwiring and do not connect the lighting directly to 12 volts.
