The Pioneer TS-A6961F is a pair of 6 x 9-inch A-Series four-way coaxial car speakers designed as a direct full-range speaker upgrade. They combine a woofer, midrange, tweeter, and super tweeter in each speaker assembly to cover a broad range of music detail. This format is well suited to replacing worn factory 6 x 9-inch speakers while retaining a straightforward installation approach.

With 90 watts RMS and 450 watts maximum power handling, the TS-A6961F can work with a compatible factory or aftermarket head unit and can also be paired with appropriately matched external amplification. Its 4-ohm nominal impedance is common for car audio speaker systems. The 92 dB sensitivity rating supports useful output from moderate-power sources.

The speaker uses a carbon- and mica-reinforced IMPP woofer cone for its low-frequency section, paired with a cellulose-fiber cone midrange. An 18 mm PET hard-dome tweeter and 11 mm PET hard-dome super tweeter handle upper-frequency reproduction. Together, the four-way coaxial layout is intended to provide full-range sound from a single mounting location.

Design & Installation

The TS-A6961F uses a metal basket, carbon- and mica-reinforced injected molded polypropylene woofer cone, elastic polymer rolled surround, and poly cotton aramid damper. Its midrange uses a cellulose-fiber diaphragm, while the high-frequency drivers use PET hard domes. Ferrite magnets are used for the woofer and midrange sections, and the voice coil uses glass imide material with copper wire.

These speakers require a compatible 6 x 9-inch location with sufficient clearance for the 2-7/8-inch mounting depth and approximately 8-3/4 x 6-inch cutout. Use the included Multi-Fit adapters only where they suit the vehicle's mounting arrangement, and connect speaker wiring to the lug-type terminals with correct polarity.
