JBL JBLMARSPKSD82MGAM 8" 3-Way Convertible Marine Speakers

The JBL JBLMARSPKSD82MGAM Stadium Marine system is a pair of 8-inch three-way convertible speakers designed for marine audio installations. It provides a flexible upgrade for boats and watercraft where conventional speaker placement can be limiting. Each system can be used with the midrange/tweeter assembly mounted coaxially or configured with the high-frequency section separately.

With 200 watts RMS and 500 watts peak power handling, these speakers are intended for amplified marine systems that need substantial output. The 3-ohm nominal impedance and 92 dB sensitivity help them make effective use of compatible amplifier power. Their 30 Hz to 22 kHz frequency response covers bass, midrange, and treble duties in one speaker system.

JBL uses Plus One polypropylene cones for both the woofer and midrange sections. The larger effective cone area supports stronger low-frequency output than a conventional cone shape of the same overall size. Mylar tweeter domes handle upper-frequency detail, while integrated grilles help seal the front of the woofer cones.

The Stadium Marine 8's convertible layout is useful when a single coaxial mounting location is preferred or when the high-frequency section needs to be positioned separately. The included cable connects the woofer and tweeter section when using the component-style arrangement. This gives installers options to work around helm, console, and panel layout constraints.

Marine-focused construction includes a one-piece polymer basket, sealed magnet, rubber surround, UV-resistant materials, and an IPX3 weather-resistance rating that increases to IPX5 from the front. RGB perimeter illumination offers seven direct-wired colors, with additional color control available through a compatible external lighting controller. The pair can serve as a primary full-range speaker upgrade in a properly powered marine audio system.

Design & Installation

These grey Stadium Marine speakers use a one-piece cast polymer basket, sealed magnet structure, rubber woofer surround, Plus One polypropylene woofer and midrange cones, and Mylar tweeter domes. Their materials are designed for exposure to sun, salt, and moisture in marine environments. JBL also specifies UV resistance and 300 hours of salt-spray testing for the Stadium Marine line.

Plan for a 7-inch woofer cutout and 3-3/16 inches of mounting depth when installing the speaker in its coaxial configuration. If the tweeter section is separated, its mounting bracket requires a 4-9/16-inch cutout; use the included cable to connect it to the woofer. Connect the RGB wiring to a compatible 12-volt source or optional lighting controller, and do not wire two or more of these 3-ohm speakers in parallel to one amplifier channel.
