This item Hifonics BXX1600.1D 1-Ohm Mono Subwoofer Amplifier $358.00
STX Audio SX0C 0 AWG Amplifier Wiring Kit $69.99
Bundle total: $427.99

The Hifonics BXX1600.1D is a mono car amplifier designed to power a subwoofer system from a single channel. It provides rated output at 1, 2, or 4 ohms, giving installers options when matching subwoofer impedance and power needs. Its focused low-frequency design makes it suited to systems that need dedicated bass amplification without adding full-range speaker channels.

At a 1-ohm load, the BXX1600.1D is rated for 1 x 1600 watts RMS; it is also rated for 1 x 800 watts at 2 ohms and 1 x 450 watts at 4 ohms. The amplifier uses a Super D Class design and is 1-ohm stable for compatible subwoofer wiring configurations. This makes it practical for a single high-power subwoofer or a properly wired multi-subwoofer setup.

The amplifier includes adjustable low-pass, subsonic, bass-boost, phase, and input-level controls for tailoring bass output to the vehicle and enclosure. Its low-pass filter operates from 30 to 250 Hz, while the subsonic filter is adjustable from 15 to 35 Hz. These controls help blend the subwoofer with front and rear speakers while managing very low-frequency content.

RCA input and output connections support integration with compatible car audio source units and allow signal pass-through for expanded systems. A wired bass-level remote is included for convenient adjustment from the listening position. Power and protection status indicators provide at-a-glance operating feedback during setup and use.

The BXX1600.1D fits as a dedicated subwoofer amplifier in an upgraded car audio system. It can be paired with subwoofers whose final wired impedance and RMS capability are appropriate for the selected output rating. Proper power, grounding, fuse protection, ventilation, and careful gain setting are important for a reliable installation.

Key Features

  • Mono Subwoofer Amplifier: Dedicated single-channel design for powering a bass system.
  • 1-Ohm Stable Output: Supports compatible subwoofer loads down to 1 ohm.
  • 1600W RMS at 1 Ohm: Delivers its highest rated continuous output at 1 ohm.
  • Adjustable Low-Pass Filter: Lets you set the upper bass-frequency cutoff.
  • Subsonic Filter: Helps limit extremely low frequencies below the selected setting.
  • Wired Bass Remote: Provides remote adjustment of bass level from the cabin.

Design & Installation

The amplifier uses a heavy-duty aluminum-alloy heat sink intended to help manage operating heat. Its power, ground, and speaker connections use molded, angled terminals designed for organized cable routing. Nickel-plated RCA jacks and output connections are used for corrosion resistance and secure signal or wire connections.

Install the amplifier in a secure location with adequate airflow and away from moisture or excessive heat. Use RCA signal cables, properly sized power and ground wiring, a remote-turn-on lead, and speaker wiring suitable for the installation; the amplifier accepts 2 AWG power/ground and 12 AWG speaker wire. Match the subwoofer system's final impedance to 1, 2, or 4 ohms, set gain conservatively, and use the filters and phase control to integrate the bass response with the rest of the system.
