The Hifonics Brutus BRL1200.1 is a mono car audio amplifier designed to provide dedicated power for a subwoofer system. It delivers up to 1 x 1200 watts RMS at 1 ohm, with additional rated output at 2- and 4-ohm loads. Its compact chassis makes it a practical option for adding controlled bass output without using a multi-channel amplifier.

This amplifier is intended for listeners building or upgrading a bass-focused vehicle audio system. Variable high-pass and low-pass crossover controls allow the output range to be adjusted for the subwoofer and installation. A built-in bass control and included wired bass remote make level adjustment convenient from the driver's seat.

The BRL1200.1 uses Hifonics Super D Class technology and a half-bridge power-supply design. This efficient topology is paired with an iron-core transformer and Ultra-Fi MOSFET output devices. The design is built to support high-output mono operation while helping limit interference with vehicle electronics.

A selectable illuminated Hifonics logo provides a distinctive visual feature without requiring a separate display. It can be set for constant blue illumination, VU meter operation, or switched off. In VU meter mode, the logo responds to audio level and can assist during gain setup.

For system integration, the BRL1200.1 accepts RCA-level input and provides a 0.2-9V input sensitivity range. Its variable filters, bass boost, and remote level control support tuning for different subwoofer systems and listening preferences. Protection circuitry monitors over/under-voltage, short-circuit, overcurrent, and thermal conditions.

Angled, molded terminals are designed to provide organized access for power, ground, and speaker wiring.

Mount the amplifier on a secure surface with adequate airflow and use the specified 2 AWG power and ground terminals, 12 AWG speaker terminals, and external 150A fuse protection. Connect a compatible source unit through its RCA inputs, then set input level, crossover points, and bass boost carefully for the connected subwoofer system. The included wired bass remote can be used for on-the-fly bass-level adjustment after the main amplifier settings are established.
